Provide high-quality occupational therapy services to enhance beneficiaries’ independence and ability to perform daily living activities. This is achieved by developing their motor, cognitive, and sensory skills, and promoting their adaptation to the environment using therapeutic strategies and assistive techniques tailored to their individual needs, with the aim of improving their quality of life and facilitating their integration into society.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Comply with the center’s policies, procedures, quality improvement goals, safety standards, environmental regulations, and infection control protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive rehabilitation and functional assessments for beneficiaries with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities.
  • Use standardized and non-standardized assessment tools to evaluate beneficiaries’ capabilities.
  • Provide individual therapy sessions for children and adolescents using appropriate therapeutic approaches.
  • Identify beneficiaries’ needs, abilities, and potentials to develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Design and implement individualized rehabilitation programs aligned with the beneficiaries’ goals.
  • Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, including department supervisors, beneficiary services, and other specialists as required.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, in consultation with the direct supervisor.
  • Prepare case reports for beneficiaries.
  • Cases should not be discharged without prior approval from the department head.
  • Educate beneficiaries’ families about occupational therapy rehabilitation, expected outcomes, and strategies for managing conditions.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to help beneficiaries and families cope with rehabilitation challenges.
  • Participate in planning and implementing future center development, including updating policies and procedures when needed.
  • Adhere to the scope of practice and rehabilitation privileges as defined by center policy.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with beneficiaries and their families, as well as a collaborative work environment with staff.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all beneficiary and staff information, whether written, verbal, or shared on social media, unless prior written consent is obtained.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in accordance with organizational policy.
  • Promote a safe environment that enhances beneficiaries’ independence, quality of life, and wellbeing.
  • Prepare periodic reports during and after therapy sessions.
  • Provide training and education for interns and specialists in occupational therapy.
  • Participate in organizing workshops and lectures for families, specialists, and community members regarding occupational therapy.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Sciences / Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation.
  • Valid registration and classification with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

Experience: 3–6 years of experience in occupational therapy, preferably with a strong background in pediatric rehabilitation .

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use.
  • Advanced diagnostic and assessment skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with beneficiaries and families.
  • Initiative and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including handling complex cases.
  • Proficiency in using modern rehabilitation devices and equipment.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • Professionalism in client interactions.
  • Ability to handle pressure and manage time effectively.

Our Occupational Therapists work across many areas of practice including:

  • Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and NDIS

  • Pediatrics (Neonatal ward and outpatients)

Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Occupational Therapists to join our Community Therapy Services team.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our five main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.

About the Role:

Working within the Community Therapy Service at Broadmeadows Hospital, the clinician is accountable for providing evidence-based Occupational Therapy to Northern Health outpatients. This is achieved through the application of expert clinical skills in assessment, goal setting, intervention/rehabilitation, triage and discharge planning.

We pride ourselves on being inclusive, supportive and are committed to evidence-based practice. We are a team driven by positive patient outcomes and team work.

This is a fixed term, part time role (60.8 hours per fortnight) until 14 November 2025. Additional hours may be available for those interested in full time work.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Fully registered as an Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check VIC
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with complex community clients, especially within a neurological cohort.
  • Experience with providing centre and home-based Occupational Therapy services
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to lifelong learning
