  • Well construction – drilling techniques, well control, fluids and solids management, drilling mechanics, performance monitoring, borehole management
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB is preferred
  • Experience working in Tableau or Power BI or Spotfire is preferred but not required
  • Experience with various engineering applications such as WellCAT, WellView is preferred but not required

    Our client, a prominent player in the upstream oil and gas sector, is actively seeking a highly experienced Drilling Engineer Specialist to join their operational team in Mysuru, Karnataka, IN . This position is crucial for the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will be responsible for developing detailed drilling programs, selecting appropriate drilling equipment and techniques, and managing rig operations on-site. This role requires a deep understanding of subsurface geology, wellbore stability, fluid mechanics, and drilling hazard management. The Drilling Engineer Specialist will also be involved in real-time monitoring of drilling parameters, troubleshooting operational challenges, and implementing best practices to minimize non-productive time. Collaboration with geologists, reservoir engineers, and service providers is essential. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in drilling engineering, including onshore and offshore operations if applicable. Proven experience in designing and executing complex well trajectories, managing high-pressure/high-temperature (HPHT) wells, and a strong grasp of drilling simulation software are highly desirable. Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure are paramount. You must be adept at managing rig personnel and ensuring adherence to stringent safety regulations. This role is field-based and requires the ability to work in challenging environments and potentially irregular hours as dictated by operational needs.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop comprehensive drilling plans and programs for various well types.
    • Select and specify drilling equipment, tools, and materials.
    • Oversee and manage rig site operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
    • Monitor drilling parameters and analyze performance data in real-time.
    • Identify, assess, and mitigate drilling-related risks and hazards.
    • Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Collaborate with internal teams (geology, reservoir engineering) and external service providers.
    • Manage drilling costs and optimize resource utilization.
    • Prepare post-drilling analysis reports and recommend improvements for future operations.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering.
    • Proven experience in designing and supervising drilling operations.
    • Strong knowledge of wellbore stability, hydraulics, and drilling fluids.
    • Experience with drilling simulation software (e.g., WellPlan, StressCheck, gOcad).
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment.
    • Knowledge of safety management systems and regulations in the oil and gas industry.
