Position Overview:

As a Process Engineer in an OSAT environment, you will play a pivotal role in developing, optimizing, and sustaining semiconductor packaging processes. You will be responsible for wire bonding, flip chip assembly, and integrated system packaging technologies, supporting both high-volume production and new product introductions (NPI). This role demands a strong technical foundation, hands-on experience with packaging equipment, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams including R&D, quality, and customer engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Development & Optimization

  • Design and implement robust packaging processes including:
  • Wire bonding (ball/wedge bonding, fine pitch, multi-row)
  • Flip chip (underfill, reflow, thermal compression bonding)
  • Integrated system packaging
  • Conduct DOE (Design of Experiments) to optimize process parameters for yield, reliability, and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation: SOPs, control plans, FMEAs, build sheets etc.

2. Manufacturing Support

  • Provide real-time support to production lines to resolve process-related issues.
  • Monitor process KPIs such as yield, cycle time, defect rates, and equipment uptime.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for maverick lots and customer returns.

3. New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Collaborate with customer engineering and R&D teams to transfer new products from prototype to mass production.
  • Define tooling and equipment requirements for new packages.
  • Execute qualification plans including reliability testing.

4. Equipment & Tooling Management

  • Work with equipment vendors to install, calibrate, and maintain packaging tools (e.g., wire bonders, flip chip bonder, molding machines, etc.).
  • Drive automation and process standardization across multiple product lines.

5. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, JEDEC standards, and internal quality systems.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO, customer audits, etc.).
  • Implement SPC and GR&R to monitor and control process stability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in semiconductor packaging, preferably in an OSAT environment.
  • Hands-on experience with wire bonding, flip chip, and SiP technologies.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools (Minitab, JMP), SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work in a multicultural, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with QFN, BGA, WLCSP, and other packages.
  • Familiarity with substrate design, thermal modeling, and mechanical stress analysis.
  • Knowledge of cleanroom protocols, ESD handling.

**Mission**
**Key missions of the position:**
+ Ensure that the IMS & IRIS System requirements are being respected.
+ Ensure that Calibration procedures & related targets are being met.
+ Ensure Implementation of relevant clause requirements of WMS (Safety & Quality)
**Responsibilities**
**Main responsibilities:**
+ Prepare calibration plan for all quality affecting gauges / equipment's of the plant.
+ Interact with calibration agencies for commercial offer and release PR.
+ Make AMC plan for OE equipment's for trouble free working.
+ Calibrating instruments, equipment, and systems according to established procedures and standards closure.
+ Creating and updating calibration procedures and documentation.
+ Maintaining accurate records of all calibration activities and ensuring data integrity.
+ Working with CFT to ensure calibration processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
+ Managing the inventory of calibration equipment, supplies, and spare parts.
+ Identifying opportunities to improve calibration processes and implementing solutions.
+ Investigating the root cause of calibration discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
+ Improvement projects to Optimize calibration & AMC expense.
+ Conduct MSA for variable & attributes.
+ Manage ERP for calibration module.
+ Ensure Participation in Quality, Cost saving initiatives, Kaizens & Suggestions scheme.
+ Maintain IMS, IRIS, WMS, WEP & EHS system requirements.
+ Ensure participation in any other project / task assigned as per business need.
+ Provided with authority to stop a manufacturing / assembly line in any situation where Standards are not respected or a safety or quality risk for the operator or for the customer has been detected.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. **Function/Dept Purpose Statement:**
**Establishes, maintains and improves business and manufacturing quality systems to ensure that manufactured product meets the customer's requirements.**
**Job Description**
+ Quality Engineering stakeholder for all product, process, or equipment changes.
+ Evaluate the impact of process and equipment changes on product attributes and quality architectures
+ Ensure product produced under non-standard conditions is correctly held, evaluated, and released
+ Monitor critical product performance attributes and take appropriate action
+ Perform experimental designs and data analysis
+ Lead or assist in the investigation of root cause, and corrective action for customer issues
+ Recommend process and quality improvements or corrections
+ Audit the compliance of the quality system
+ Protects IP
+ Quality receiver for new manufacturing process; monitor product attribute performance
+ Oversee initial product qualification
+ Directly influence the quality of the product that customers receive
+ Uniquely positioned to understand the interrelations between all manufacturing steps
+ Work for a company that prides itself on innovation and is a recognized leader in specialty glass
+ Participate in the startup of a high-tech manufacturing facility.
**Minimum Requirements:**
+ Bachelor of Engineering (Any Stream)
+ 3-7 years' experience in a quality engineering or applications engineering role
+ Demonstrated Quality Mindset - e.g., understands impact of quality to the customer, understands the impact of various process elements on overall product quality, passion for quality
+ Approaches work with process rigor and discipline - process oriented, applies the scientific method, experience developing and implements SOPs, uses data to drive decisions and solve problems using Quality Architectures/control plan.
+ Strong quality engineering skill set - e.g., experience with Statistical Software package such as MiniTab or SAS, experience applying structured process improvement methods such as DMAIC, , DESGN, LEAN, etc.
+ Excellent written and verbal communications skills
+ Experience working in a matrix environment, and demonstrated ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups
+ Experience with system audits - e.g., familiarity w/ ISO 9000 or TL9000 requirements, experience as a business process auditor, etc.
+ Six Sigma Green Belt
+ Prior experience working for MNC
