**Job Summary**
The Plant Engineering Manager will lead the Plant Engineering Function at the 3M India Manufacturing Plant in Pune. The role requires deep expertise in Plant Engineering, Maintenance, and Utilities, ensuring production and utility equipment are designed, installed, commissioned, and maintained to meet or exceed plant targets for safety, cost, quality, and productivity.
The incumbent will apply broad technical knowledge and extensive experience to solve complex engineering and operational challenges, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with corporate standards. The role carries full leadership responsibility for a team of professionals and support staff, including planning, resource allocation, performance management, and capability development.
This position is pivotal in enabling uninterrupted plant operations, driving efficiency, and ensuring alignment with business and strategic goals.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead and manage Plant Engineering, Maintenance, Utilities, and Facilities functions to ensure uninterrupted operations and compliance with safety and quality standards.
+ Supervise installation, commissioning, and maintenance of production and utility equipment to support production targets.
+ Drive continuous improvement projects, investigate alternative technologies, and introduce best practices to enhance plant performance.
+ Manage budgets, resources, and workforce planning, ensuring optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Process Engineering, HSE, Materials, Warehousing, and Lean/CI teams to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
+ Provide technical expertise, guidance, and training to subordinates on critical Plant Engineering KPIs and practices.
+ Ensure adherence to 3M corporate values, ethical standards, and compliance with regulatory and company policies.
+ Lead employee development through coaching, training, and performance management.
+ Manage contracts and vendor relationships associated with plant engineering and maintenance services.
**Qualifications**
**Education**
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical, or Electronics (in that order of preference) required.
+ Master's degree (preferred).
**Experience**
+ 15-18 years of relevant experience in Plant Engineering, Facilities & Utilities, and Maintenance within a manufacturing/production environment.
+ Proven track record in project engineering, project management, and cross-functional leadership.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
+ Expert knowledge of engineering practices in Plant Engineering, Utilities, Maintenance, Quality Systems, Spares/Materials Control, Warehousing, and HSE.
+ Strong business acumen with knowledge of competitors, industry trends, and market best practices.
+ Proficiency in IT and ERP systems; familiarity with HR, procurement, and corporate systems.
+ Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills including performance management, change management, conflict resolution, and team development.
+ Strong analytical, conceptual problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
+ Effective communication and persuasion skills with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.

Responsibilities
- To lead and manage Proposal team for all proposal related activities
- Review enquiry documents and other related materials to extract and identify all relevant technical and commercial requirements for the proposal.
- Conduct Bid/No-Bid evaluations for all enquiries received and advise on pursuit strategy.
- Organize and lead proposal kick-off meetings to align stakeholders and define deliverables.
- Develop detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), effort estimations for each discipline, and resource loading charts.
- Coordinate with all relevant engineering disciplines (Civil, Mechanical, E&I, etc.) to ensure timely inputs for proposal preparation.
- Allocate tasks across the proposal team, follow up on progress, and ensure overall quality and completeness of the proposal.
- Develop and manage the overall proposal schedule, track milestones, and maintain a log of action items.
- Identify proposal-specific risks and develop mitigation strategies; maintain a detailed risk register. Prepare and compile all proposal submission documents in accordance with client requirements and deadlines.
- Support the Sales team during the proposal phase, including participation in customer meetings to address technical queries, clarifications, and proposal walkthroughs.
- Submit the final proposal in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client specifications.
- Conduct Win/Loss analysis for all submitted proposals and maintain a lessons-learned database for future reference.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with 16–18 years of relevant experience, or master’s degree with 12–14 years of experience.

+ Design, build, and improve Sandisk's supply chain by applying IE principles and using industry standard systems (Enterprise Resource Planning & Advanced Planning and Scheduling)
+ Provide project management expertise on various qualification activities for existing products and new products.
