Job Description

Government Engagement & Policy Advocacy

·     Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders in ministries, departments, and government agencies (Central & State).

·     Represent The A App in public policy and governance forums.

·     Align our offerings with national programs like Digital India , DBT , Skill India , and others.

·     Monitor policy trends and provide strategic inputs to internal stakeholders.

Business Development & Revenue Generation

·     Identify and pursue government-led opportunities (e.g., surveys, feedback platforms, grievance redressal, digital outreach).

·     Lead participation in RFPs, RFQs, EoIs , and tenders—managing proposal development, compliance, and submission.

·     Negotiate and close MoUs , contracts , and work orders .

Strategy & Execution

·     Develop and own a government go-to-market (GTM) strategy.

·     Collaborate with internal teams to tailor offerings for government needs (e.g., public communication, impact assessments).

·     Ensure execution meets defined SLAs and government deliverables by working closely with product and tech teams.


Requirements

Education

·     MBA/PGDM from top-tier institutes (IIMs, ISB, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, etc.)

·     Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Economics, Public Policy , or related disciplines is a plus.

Experience

·     5–6 years in:

o     Public policy consulting

o     Government relations

o     Public sector business development (preferably in think tanks, civic-tech startups, or large consulting/GovTech firms)

·     Demonstrated success engaging ministries and converting government opportunities into commercial outcomes.

Skills

·     In-depth knowledge of government functioning and procurement systems (GeM, RFPs, tendering, MoUs).

·     Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

·     Strong verbal and written communication.

·     Commercial orientation with the ability to convert government interest into revenue streams .

·     Comfortable with documentation-heavy and cross-functional environments

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially astute manager to undertake the role of Head of Professional Services (Research) and work with a group of caring and committed people in a meaningful organisation dedicated to delivering high quality research that influences policy development and practice change to improve homelessness, housing and urban environments of all Australians.

The Role:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Professional Services Group (Professional Services Group provide a range of services including program evaluations, research synthesis analyses, the facilitation of research-to-policy development workshops and seminars, and leads business development for the Institute)
  • Oversee the quality, relevance and cost effectiveness of Professional Services and business development activities
  • Lead business development to source contracts for research projects, synthesis work, program evaluations, policy development facilitation and related research activities
  • Actively lead and deliver the transfer of research into policy development through public speaking, facilitation of public and private events and through the media
  • Provide strategic advice and oversight and work with the Executive Management Group to monitor team performance consistent with the strategic goals of the company

To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Demonstrated experience in working at a strategic level and have solid leadership and management experience
  • Research skills - high level conceptual and analytic capacity with the ability to source, evaluate and synthesise evidence from a range of relevant research sources
  • Good understanding of research quality, methods and approaches including skills in research assessment
  • Superior analytical, conceptual and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self managed and motivated

Qualifications and experience desired:

  • Demonstrated understanding of urban policy, housing, social and economic policy issues in Australia
  • Demonstrated understanding of decision making processes in urban, housing, and private sector entitites
  • Advanced degree (MA or PhD level) or equivalent experience viewed favourably
