This is a hands-on leadership role where your deep technical expertise will guide complex grid connection studies, generator performance assessments, and power system modelling. Our Power Systems Analysis & Grid Connections team partners with developers, utilities, and network service providers to deliver comprehensive grid connection services across all stages of a project. Our team provides:
- Feasibility and preliminary assessments
- Owner’s engineer, lender’s engineer and technical due diligence
- Power system modelling and simulation
- Generator performance standards (GPS) studies
- Connection application package development (R0 and R1) and ad-hoc support
- R2 model validation and GPS compliance assessment
- Ongoing technical advisory through commissioning

Your Qualifications & Experience
- To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally bring:
- A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Chartered status with Engineers Australia
- A strong background in consulting engineering, with experience managing multiple projects, clients, and consulting engagements—including client liaison, commercial oversight, and scope management
- Extensive experience in power system analysis for utility-scale networks, covering:
- Steady-state, dynamic, and electromagnetic transient (RMS/EMT) studies
- Grid connection and GPS studies (R0, R1), R2 commissioning plans, hold point testing, and model validation for utility-scale Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs)
- Proven expertise in the generator connection process under the Australian National Electricity Rules (NER) or similar frameworks, with strong knowledge of Generator Technical Performance Standards (GTPS)
- An ability to provide advice as an Owner’s Engineer, Lender’s Engineer or as part of a Technical Due Diligence
- Proficiency in PSS/E and PSCAD; experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSSE SINCAL is a plus
- Familiarity with a wide range of synchronous and non-synchronous technologies, including storage, hybrids, and grid-forming inverters
- Experience with hybrid renewable energy projects, data centre connections, and automation/Python programming
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and produce clear, targeted technical reports
- Demonstrated success in leading connection negotiations with AEMO, DNSPs, and TNSPs
