Work within the Shape core manufacturing processes, Shape launch process, vehicle design packaging, and product performance knowledge methodologies.

Apply the fundamentals of mechanical theory, material properties, test protocols, and basic manufacturing processes to daily projects.

Develop component and system-level product designs utilizing engineering applications in accordance with customer requirements.

Interpret and understand customer inputs and communicate Shape outputs to customers.

Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers to meet development timelines.

Review customer T-file, BOM, design intent, and interface. Decide the fixation scheme layout and, joinery detail development and develop the section and overall layout.

Utilize up-front engineering practices to design products allowing efficient use of resources.

Engineering and Tooling feasibility of the design

Development of Master sections, part designing based on CAS and environmental data.

Work with the flow simulation team to optimize the design.

Responsible for the Development of plastic components from scratch till PPAP as per the timeline

defined by the customer.

Propose product design changes to customers based on Plastic Manufacturing capabilities and vehicle packaging.

Manage the product design timeline and provide updates to internal and external customers.

Advanced proficiency in plastic manufacturing (injection molding) processes, manufacturing processes, and fixture development.

Thoroughly aware of the Plastics Product Development Cycle (from initial RFQ to SOP

+90 days assistance) and VA/VE of existing products.

Ability to deliver projects at the system level from design to implementation.

Detail understanding of product development procedures, validation (ANPQP-STPR); manufacturing process, and investigation failures for products.

Prior experience with GD&T tolerance stack-up, DFMEA, DFM, DFS, DFA, DVP, and customer PPAP.

Job Description

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer with a strong background in polymer processing, materials engineering, or mechanical engineering to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing fluoropolymer-based products and components for industrial applications such as pumps, valves, corrosion-resistant systems, and high-purity solutions.

This role involves close collaboration with OEM customers, internal production teams, and quality departments to deliver cost-effective, innovative, and reliable products that meet industry standards (ASTM, ASME, etc.).


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new products and components using fluoropolymers (PTFE, PFA, FEP, etc.) based on customer/OEM requirements.
  • Support prototype development, process optimization, and product validation activities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams on molding, machining, lining, and fabrication processes .
  • Conduct material selection, testing, and failure analysis to improve product performance.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as drawings, BOMs, and product specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM/ASME standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Provide technical support during customer discussions, audits, and project reviews .
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to reduce cost and improve quality .
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for existing product lines.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of polymer materials (especially fluoropolymers) and mechanical properties.
  • Familiarity with plastic molding, machining, extrusion, and lining techniques .
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of ASTM, ASME, and other industrial standards .
  • Problem-solving mindset with root cause analysis capability.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration .
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.


Education & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Polymer, or Materials Engineering
  • 2–5 years of experience in product development, R&D, or process engineering (fluoropolymers/polymers preferred).
  • Experience with 3D modeling, product testing, and process optimization is desirable.
  • Freshers with exceptional academic records and relevant project work may be considered for junior roles.
