Let me tell you about the role!

The Transportation Advisor will support the National Transportation Manager by managing all activities related to secondary transportation, as part of the Logistics Team in GSC India. The scope of accountabilities of this position will cover selection of transporters, transportation safety requirements, monitor and manage transporter performance to help deliver the business objectives.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Managing the secondary transportation in India for CIL across plants and CFA locations
• Clearly communicate and supervise the implementation of all the agreed safety standards and flag any potential risks are the right time
• Manage the operational relationship with all the secondary transporters and lead the resolution of issues 
• Review secondary transportation capacity vs current and future demand and make recommendations on capacity adjustments based on a robust case
• Ensure that the service level agreements with secondary transporters are aligned with the relevant customer offers and establish a mechanism to measure, supervise and manage transporters performance against agreed targets
• Develop a detailed understanding of the underlying levers that impact transportation costs and leverage that to deliver costs within budget
• Liaise with other functional teams within Supply Chain, like warehouse, planning and plant, and business teams to ensure smooth process
• Identify areas of improvement that help improve performance on safety, service, costs and simplification, recommend options & solution
• Maintain and update all relevant databases for the transportation both in JDE and TMS to ensure data integrity.

Experience and Qualifications:

• University degree, MBA or equivalent specialization in SCM preferred.
• 6-8 years of experience in distribution/supply chain management.
• Ability to communicate and influence internal as well as external customers.

He / She should have 8 -10 years of relevant experience in the field of factory procurement
Should have understanding of different commodities like sheet metal, epoxy, Machining, Weld assemblies, springs, motor, gear box, plastic, labels and services.
Should have hands on experience in driving sustainability, digitalisation, supplier risk management within department as well as at supplier's end.
Should be well conversant with Supplier pricing structure and negotiation techniques
Should have thorough understanding of market indices pricing for precious metals like steel, copper, aluminium and silver.
Should be conversant with outsourcing activities and also should have experience in handling internal and external audits.
Should have understanding of import process and handling of import suppliers with the alignment of global commodity strategy.
Should have hands on experience on eSourcing tools like eRFQ, eBidding and eAuction
Should conduct offer assessment & negotiations, coordination with Engineering & ensure the techno-commercial evaluation of the offers
Should be able to develop zero base costing, develop short term and long term strategies for commodities
Should act as a support for Supplier Capacity Mapping, Supplier Risk Assessments, Audits & Quality Improvements
Should work as a team player and should work along with cross functional team members to drive cost reduction projects
Should possess excellent negotiation and communications skills with proven capabilities of managing different supplier relationships (collaborative vs confronting style)
Should have experience to work in matrix organization. He/she has to adhere to Siemens process and compliance and should follow DOA.
Should possess University degree in engineering ( Mechanical / Production) along with knowledge of SAP and Supply Chain Management, MS office and other analytical tools

Should have knowledge of Electronics components (both active & passive), connectors, mechanical assemblies, packaging commodity independently.
Identify and manage procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, and claims during the entire lifecycle of a product.
Ensure resilience supply chain and further develop supply base.
Develop and implement sustainable strategic procurement activities.
Should be able to use & communicate with global procurement network of category manager / purchasing council.
Ensure an industry leading sourcing process, incl. control of the spend and ensuring purchase-to-pay compliance.
Drive continuous improvement & digitalization.
Develop, manage and engage preferred suppliers to drive supplier innovation and performance.
Manage demand from internal customers.
To increase CNI (Contribution to Net Income) through Negotiations PPC & other strategic levers
Responsible for Negotiations - Driving cost reduction, Price & contract negotiation
What you bring to the table:
3-5 yrs. experience as a procurement professional
BE in Electronics/ BE in Electronics & Telecommunication
Profound knowledge of SCM and preferably electronics business
Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders across the business.
Ability to build trust and confidence quickly and professionally.

Working knowledge of electronic auctions and bids (e-auctions/ e-bids)
