JOB DESCRIPTION
As part of the ongoing evolution of our core product lines and an increase in custom projects, we are initiating a QA team to support the critical qualification phase of our development cycle. The QA manager will play a vital role in maintaining Capillary's industry-leading reputation for product excellence by ensuring that all deliverables undergo thorough and rigorous qualification procedures. The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Lead with over
10 years of experience in the wire harness and cable assembly industry, with a specific
focus on space-grade applications. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in
quality control methodologies for aerospace and space systems, with a proven track record
of leading teams, implementing robust QA processes, and driving continuous improvement.
This role requires a deep understanding of industry standards, particularly AS9100D, PAX
300, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of
quality professionals in a high-stakes, high-reliability environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Assurance team, providing mentorship,
training, and performance evaluations for personnel working on critical
space systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality management
system (QMS) in alignment with industry standards such as AS9100D, ISO
9001, and IATF 16949, and specifically tailored for the stringent
requirements of the space industry.
- Establish and oversee quality control processes for all stages of wire
harness production, from raw material inspection to final product testing
and shipment, ensuring adherence to PAX 300 workmanship standards.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and
preventive actions (CAPA) for product defects and non-conformances,
with a strong focus on preventing recurrence in a zero-fault
environment.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to
ensure quality is integrated into all aspects of the manufacturing
process, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges of space
applications.
- Manage and conduct internal and external audits, including supplier
audits, to ensure compliance with quality standards, with a specific focus
on AS9100D and relevant ECSS requirements.
- Develop and analyze quality metrics and reports to identify trends and
areas for improvement, and present findings to senior leadership.
- Stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best
practices in wire harness manufacturing for the space sector.
- Manage and maintain all necessary quality documentation and records,
including traceability of components and processes as required by space-
grade standards.
Qualifications
Diploma or ITI in Electronics & Communication
Minimum of 10 years of experience in wire harness of cable assembly
industry, with 5+ years in Quality Assurance
- Proven experience in a space-grade manufacturing environment is
essential
Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Expertise in industry quality standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO
9001, and AS9100D.
Certified in PAX 300 and a strong understanding of ECSS standards.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
collaborate effectively across departments
