The Quality Manager will lead the end-to-end quality function at BIBA’s manufacturing factory for ethnic wear. Key Responsibilities:
1. Fabric & Raw Material Quality
- Oversee inspection of fabrics, trims, laces, beads, sequins, zari, and other embellishments at the incoming stage.
- Ensure shrinkage, colorfastness, embroidery strength, wash tests, and hand-feel tests are conducted before bulk production.
- Coordinate with sourcing and merchandising teams for approvals and rejections.
2. In-line & End-line Quality Control
- Monitor in-line inspection for embroidery, print alignment, color matching, and stitching consistency.
- Ensure garment measurements match BIBA’s size standards across all styles.
- Supervise end-line checks for finishing, ironing, labeling, and packaging of ethnic wear.
- Drive Zero Defect Shipment culture with First Time Right (FTR) focus.
3. Embroidery & Embellishment Quality
- Inspect embroidery (hand & machine), beadwork, sequin work, gota-patti, mirror work, and applique for durability and design accuracy.
- Standardize quality for thread strength, bead/stone fixing, and fastness of embellishments.
- Train operators on handling delicate ethnic fabrics like silk, chiffon, georgette, and cotton blends.
4. Process Improvement & Compliance
- Implement quality checkpoints at critical operations (cutting, stitching, embroidery, finishing).
- Introduce defect prevention techniques to reduce rework and wastage.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality benchmarks and statutory norms.
5. Team Management
- Lead the QA/QC team of in-line checkers, embroidery inspectors, finishing auditors, and packing quality staff.
- Conduct skill enhancement training for checkers, tailors, and finishing teams on quality standards.
- Work closely with production supervisors to solve quality issues in real time.
6. Reporting & Customer Feedback
- Maintain MIS on rejection %, defect analysis, and audit performance.
- Share weekly and monthly quality reports with management.
- Analyze customer complaints/returns related to fit, color bleed, embroidery damage, or shrinkage, and drive corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree/Diploma in Textile Technology, Apparel Manufacturing, or Fashion Technology.
- 10–15 years’ experience in garment manufacturing with at least 5 years in a quality leadership role .
- Strong exposure to women’s ethnic wear – fabrics, embroidery, embellishments, and finishing.
- Experience in handling both domestic and export quality standards preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of ethnic wear garment construction and finishing.
