Job Description

The Securities & Derivative Analyst 1 is an entry level position responsible for processing orders and transactions originating from trading desks and branch offices in coordination with the Operations - Transaction Services team. The overall objective of this role is to assist in the clearance, settlement and investigation of client securities and derivatives transactions.
Mandatory requirements:
+ Oversee middle office activities with emphasis on client account updates and adherence to compliance protocols
+ Handle routine inquiries and follow-ups received via email from FAs, OSJs (Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction) and RSOs (Regional Supervisory Officers).
+ Review conversion checklists and ensure seamless conversion of client accounts into managed programs.
+ Maintain compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards; proactively communicate any discrepancies to relevant stakeholders.
+ Analyze, review, and validate U.S. tax forms (W-9, W-8 series) with moderate to complex scenarios at Level 1.
+ Submit service center requests for federal and FATCA withholding reversals in accordance with guidelines.
+ Process and update client information such as address changes, Net worths, Employment Info, Demographic changes based on daily maintenance requests.
+ Initiate and track Work Status Requests to ensure accurate updates across internal systems.
+ Monitor key operational queues for tax forms and submit appropriate correction or escalation requests.
+ Coordinate remediation efforts by sending notification emails to Financial Advisors (FAs) for required corrections.
+ Regularly review team mailboxes and system databases to ensure timely response and resolution of all items.
+ Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs); support a control-focused environment by adhering to documentation protocols.
+ Assist with audit processes, including preparation of supporting documentation and communication records.
+ Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports for management review and audit readiness.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Perform trade verifications to ensure accuracy of booking requests
+ Generate and match trade confirmations according to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) templates
+ Complete settlement tasks and daily rate revaluations accurately and on time
+ Coordinate transaction processing issues to the appropriate department and collaborate on a solution
+ Perform regulatory controls, account reconciliations, and record retention activities in accordance with established policies
+ Prepare and submit periodic internal and external regulatory reports
+ Participate in the periodic General Ledger (GL) proofing exercises as directed
+ Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
**Qualifications:**
+ Relevant experience preferred
+ Fundamental understanding of Treasury products, accounting and regulatory policies
+ Proven ability to perform various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment
+ Demonstrated knowledge of macros
+ Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

Role Expectation

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Risk & Control.
  • Potential candidate should be able to lead/run efficiency projects. Experience in implementing/running regulatory projects is an added advantage
  • Potential candidate is expected to manage a team of 8-10 members. Hence, should be a seasoned People Manager and have provided direct Employee Performance Review feedback, appraisal and ratings for at least 3 consecutive years mandatorily.
  • Should be able to motivate and groom people within the division.

  • The Associate will be responsible for the supervision and oversight of TPG Securities team (both Bangalore and Pune location) supporting core US hours, ensuring a smooth and seamless functioning of day-to-day business deliverables.
  • Potential candidate should have a sound understanding and knowledge of Security Trade Lifecycle and of the Securities Market specification for Equities & Fixed Income products. Other products such as Derivatives, OTC, Asset Backed Security (ABS), Mortgage-Backed Security (MBS), CSDR etc. will be an added advantage.
  • Potential candidate is expected to manage the end-to-end workflow of the TPG Securities process. The candidate is expected to co-ordinate with brokers, custodians, market agents, Trading & Portfolio Management team.
  • Potential candidate will be expected to provide an expert opinion on the settlements of security trade from time-to-time when onboarding new clients or entering new markets.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Risk & Control.
  • Potential candidate should be able to lead/run efficiency projects. Experience in implementing/running regulatory projects is an added advantage
  • Potential candidate is expected to manage a team of 8-10 members. Hence, should be a seasoned People Manager and have provided direct Employee Performance Review feedback, appraisal and ratings for at least 3 consecutive years mandatorily.
  • Should be able to motivate and groom people within the division.
  • Is responsible for Risk Indicators, controls and SLA (Service level agreements) / KPI (Key performance indicator).
  • Must ensure an effective communication between functional teams on issue resolution, knowledge sharing and good practice.
  • Must proactively identifies, escalates and takes steps to substantially mitigate risk issues.

  • In depth and sound knowledge of the Securities Trade Life-cycle.
  • Securities trade end to end workflow.
  • Knowledge on different markets (US, EMEA, APAC etc.)
  • Working knowledge on corporate actions, F&O, OTC is an added advantage.
  • Project Management Skills.
  • Knowledge on different security types and its working.
  • Communication fluency - read & write.
  • Seasoned People Manager and have taken Performance Review Appraisal. Minimum 2-3 consecutive years in the role.

Service Delivery:  

  • Acquire complete understanding of Corporate actions process & its related functions with various parties involved. For example: Transaction, Reconciliation, Nav etc.
  • Become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) of the process by acquiring complete knowledge of corporate Processing & review across different types of events in funds.
  • Should be able to handle & have knowledge on different type of CA such as mandatory , voluntary CA.
  • Should have complete knowledge on Dividend/Coupon processing & settlement process.
  • Ensure all reconciliation breaks related to CA are justified for each calculated NAV .
  • Ensure corporate actions events are captured in a timely manner & reported to Nav team as required.
  • Support in preparation of Key/Standard Operating Procedures for each process migrated to Chennai.
  • Consistently evaluate the documented procedures to ensure they are complete, accurate and up to date.
  • Carry out other ad-hoc duties may arise from time to time, mainly on month ends & year ends.
  • Ensure review of critical queries before sent. Where issues/errors arise ensure detailed analysis of issues and clear understanding is gained before responding to client, spoke or other parties.
  • Identifying the staff training requirement & ensure all the necessary training has been provided to the team members to perform the relevant tasks.  

Financial:  

  • Adhere to Quality of 100% while producing & reviewing corporate actions.
  • Ensure there is NO Financial impact/loss to the organization.  

Risk Management:  

  • Ensure all events captured are justified with corporate action check list.
  • Inform & document all errors identified during review stage within same day. Should take initiative in resolving any repetitive errors or training gaps.
  • Act as a back-up in the absence of other team members & Supervisor.
  • Identify the manual steps, process efficiencies & developments, by providing practical ideas on areas of improvements & work towards its automation.
  • Ensure to minimize the unplanned leaves, especially during business critical days, like month end, rollover days and migration of new funds.
  • Should come up with minimum one process improvement/automation initiative per quarter.
