Job Description
We are looking for an experienced SoC Architecture Engineer for high performance SOCs & MCUs, to support the Technical Project Leaders and SOC Architecture organization working closely with business, product marketing, system architects, SOC design architects and designers, software architects and developers.
**Responsibilities**
The successful candidate will be expected to
+ Work in SOC Architecture team that will define the SOC/MCU architecture and detailed technical specifications from product requirements provided by business and product marketing organizations.
+ Work closely with SOC & MCU vertical Chip developments and silicon design teams in ensuring predictable; on-schedule; high quality; first-time-right executions working in close alignment with business/customer, product marketing, program management, manufacturing team, Software, FuSa, cyber security etc.
+ Define-Own-Deliver the implementation spec that meets KPI & product requirement, including the specification compliance - ensuring coverage from verification, validation, characterization and test. Then reviewing the outcomes to make sure the product is compliant.
+ Experience working on advanced automotive high performance SOCs/vehicle computers/SDVs/MCUs highly desired.
+ Work closely with R&D teams in defining and adjusting the SoC architecture based on challenges seen during implementation.
+ IP selection and make/buy decisions are a key factor for this role.
+ Experience in SERDES/Interconnect/NPU/GPU/Imaging/Debug/ clocking and reset architecture will be highly helpful.

The Role

Zeno is seeking a Vehicle Electronics (Hardware) Engineer to lead the design and development of electronic hardware systems for our next-generation EV platform. This role will focus on end-to-end hardware development including architecture design, schematic capture, PCB design, component selection, compliance testing, and product validation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and cost-optimized electronics for Zeno’s electric motorcycles.

  • Work with suppliers, PCB fab and assembly houses to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, while maintaining high quality and reliability.
  • Select and validate vehicle wire harness subcomponents including wire material and guage, connectors, switch gear, and layout needed to minimize cross talk
  • Translate market and product requirements into hardware block diagrams and system architecture.
  • Develop and implement power tree architectures using Buck-Boost converters, LDOs, and low-power design principles.
  • Select components in collaboration with vendors and suppliers to balance performance, cost, and availability.
  • Own schematic drafting, PCB stack-up, and layout design using tools such as Altium Designer.
  • Create and manage BOMs; ensure quality improvement and cost reduction in product design.
  • Perform DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews with manufacturing and EMS partners.
  • Draft and execute test plans for board bring-up, hardware debugging, antenna tuning, and compliance validation.
  • Work closely with firmware engineers to ensure seamless hardware–software integration.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive and EV regulatory standards (AIS004, AIS140).
  • Contribute to DFMEA, supplier assessments, and design reviews.
  • Support POC builds, customer evaluations, and field issue resolutions.


What You Bring

  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance design, signal integrity, mixed signal design principles.
  • 5–8 years of experience in electronic hardware design, preferably in automotive or IoT/EV domains.
  • Proven expertise with microcontrollers (STM, NXP, ESP32) and IoT modules (N58, EC200, EC25, EG800, N720, N706, C10GS, L89H, GEM1205, ESP32).
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, SDIO, CAN, RS485/232, LTE (4G/2G), GNSS, IRNSS, BLE.
  • Hands-on experience with AIS004 and AIS140 compliance testing.
  • Proficiency in power electronics fundamentals and power tree architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of schematic design, PCB layout, and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DFM, DFA, and quality/reliability processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

**Introduction**
IBM Systems division builds Servers, Storage and Systems Software which are the building blocks for next-generation IT infrastructure of enterprise customers and data centers. IBM Servers provide best-in-class reliability, scalability, performance, and end-to-end security to handle mission-critical workloads and provide seamless extension to hybrid multi cloud environments.
India Systems Development Lab (ISDL) is part of word-wide IBM Systems division. Established in 1996, the ISDL Lab is headquartered in Bengaluru, with presence in Pune and Hyderabad as well. ISDL teams work across the IBM Systems stack including Processor development, Firmware, Operating Systems, Systems Software, Storage Software, Cloud Software, Performance Engineering, System Test etc. The ISDL teams also ushered in new development models such as Agile, Design Thinking and DevOps.
**Your role and responsibilities**
IBM Systems development lab works on the development of latest generation processors that power the IBM Z Systems (Mainframe) & IBM Power Systems.
The Enterprise Systems Development team in Bangalore is a microcosm of the global Systems development lab. As a member of the ESD team you will have an opportunity to work on the Design/ Verification/ Pre Silicon Validation / Physical design/ EDA / Library/ Memory characterization/ Post silicon validation of the Processor chip that is being developed in the latest technologies of 5nm , 3nm & Beyond.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Digital Logic design, Computer Architecture, RISC V or other processor pipeline knowledge, VLSI design flow and process knowledge, Good understanding of custom circuits , Analog , Digital logic design, memory technologies
* Good programming and scripting ( Python/ Perl) skills are highly desired
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Strong Communication, analytical, interpersonal & problem-solving skills
* Master's Degree in VLSI design / Electronics / Computer Science engineering or other relevant specializations in Hardware.
