We are looking for Learning Support Practitioners to provide essential classroom and workshop support and practical assistance to our students and to play a key role in supporting our teaching staff to deliver an exceptional student experience.
As a Learning Support Practitioner you will work alongside teaching staff, and will be deployed in a range of vocational workshops or classrooms, working with groups of students, or on a one to one basis.
You will need to have a flexible style and approach, with the ability to build effective relationships with both students and teaching staff, accompanied by the ability to be pro-active and use your initiative. You should have experience of working with young people and an understanding of working with people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
You will need to have a good standard of education, with English and/or Maths at Level 2 (GCSE C or 4 grade), with a commitment to achieving Level 2 English or Maths if not already obtained.
Enhanced hourly rates are available for Learning Support Practitioners undertaking personal care duties.

**Purpose of the position**
- To deliver solutions for customer issues that cannot be solved by Tier 0 line support by providing expertise in a SuccessFactors learning area.
- To provide expertise to increase efficiency and improve quality by standardizing, optimizing and automating GP&O processes, using knowledge to deliver value to DSM.
**Key areas of accountability/responsibility**

- Create and update training material WI’s for Tier 1
**Project management activities**
- Work on UAT’s in coordination with Tier 2

- Test and implement release of new learning in coordination with e-learning specialist
**Security / Privacy**
He/she observes the Security / Privacy regulations, takes care to be aware, trained and completed formal registration (e.g. Non-Disclosure Agreement) and fulfils a warning function when regulations are not met or when an insecure situation occurs.
**Knowledge level, educational level and skill requirements**

The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Principal (or delegate), support and assist teachers to meet the students identified educational needs. Receiving little direct supervision and subject to occasional progress checks, the position will support teaching staff with student learning activities.
Each role is 28.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday), 40 weeks per year. The working hours are:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 9:00am to 3:30pm (with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break)
- Tuesdays: 9:00am to 2:00pm (with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break)
Some flexibility and out of hours work will be required from time to time during busy, peak workload periods and to support special events. Overtime as applicable is available.
Duties include, and are not limited to :
- Assist student learning, where some discretion and judgement is involved, including evaluation and assessment, under the supervision of a teacher, of the learning needs of students.
- Carry out a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising classrooms and/or intervention programs).
- Apply personal knowledge and initiative to suggest modifications to educational programs to meet the learning needs of specific students, subject to approval of the teacher.
- Supervise and care for students with formally identified special needs in accordance with Personalised Plans for Learning (PPL) as applicable.
- Demonstrate practical activities within a variety of routines, methods, and experiences under supervision of teachers where discretion and judgement are required.

- Demonstrated ability working, supervising, and communicating effectively with school students including supporting students with special needs.
- Demonstrate a broad knowledge of a range of inclusive and supportive behaviour techniques to positively contribute to student learning.
- Demonstrated ability to take significant initiative, apply solutions to a range of problems and analyse and plan approaches to effectively support students’ wellbeing, social interactions and learning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills contribute to positive interactions within the school community and with external parties and to supervise other staff, as required.
