Job Description

Primary Purpose: To design, develop and implement strategic and operational legal frameworks for the real estate business of the Organization.


Key Activities (Critical activities of the job)

Legal advisory responsibilities

  1. Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the management and resolution of a diverse range of legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
  2. Advise on civil/criminal matters that should be directed to external counsel, liaise with and assist external counsel to pursue civil/criminal matters.
  3. Research, analyse and interpret complex policies, legal and regulatory issues, to prepare high quality and articulate submissions, reviews and recommendations.
  4. Provide expert knowledge that adds value to decision makers to enhance the decision-making process and improve the efficacy of the activities of the Organization.
  5. Lead and monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of the legal department’s service on time for day to day operations.
  6. To ensure policy, legal and regulatory compliance is met with and that risk is identified, minimized and managed.
  7. Proactively assess and respond to the impact of changes in the operating environment on relevant legislation, legal, policy and regulatory frameworks applicable to the Organization.

Legal implementation responsibilities

  1. Take instructions/directions from Legal Head before commencing/initiating any work received from other departments of the Organization.
  2. Initiate and pursue legal proceedings as required by the Organization i.e. prepare writs, defences, submissions and other pleadings in civil/criminal cases both “for and against” the Organization.
  3. Carry out legal research and analysis, identifying important issues and apprising the Organization of emerging legal trends from court decision and tendering advice to avoid unwarranted litigation matters.
  4. Draft and/or review legal letters, contracts and agreements.
  5. Monitor legal obligations under contracts and agreements to ensure compliance.
  6. Maintain database of the status of all court matters involving the Organization.
  7. Assist in the formulation, implementation and/or amendment of policies of Organization.

Liaison responsibility

  1. Work closely with Business Development Team to de-risk the land/real estate acquisition process by:
  2. Acquisition of property/project - Legal due diligence of property.
  3. Attend meetings with property owners/developers/Member of the Societies.
  4. Issue public notice for inviting claims of third party who may have claims on property which Organization intends to purchase/develop.
  5. To issue Title Certificate for the property/project and further to prepare all documentations required to complete the said acquisition.
  6. Assist CRM Team to handle customer complaints/queries and maintain great customer service experience.
  7. Be an active memeber in the discussions for making strategies for large scale acquisition.
  8. Work with accounts department for processing of various Fee Bills of external advocates/counsels/solicitors/ search clerks and settlements.

Knowledge upgrade :

  1. Keep abreast of contemporary legal advancements and develop innovative policy and legal options in response to challenging operational requirements to expand and deliver the core business of the Organization.

Qualification:

  • LLB

Prior Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years extensive experience in handling legal matters as a practicing Attorney-at-Law or in a corporate environment.

Expected Competencies/Personality Attributes :

  • Technical understanding of the business and operations of the Organization
  • Excellent interpersonal communication at all levels (verbal and written).
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Join our Global Legal Operations (GLO) team!

Ramboll's Global Legal Operations (GLO) team provides centralized legal services to our businesses operating in regions with a smaller Ramboll presence, as well as supporting legal teams across continental Europe, APAC, India, UK, and the US. Our GLO team members are based in India and Europe. We are seeking a full-time Legal Advisor specializing in Contracts matters to join our growing team. The primary focus of this role is reviewing consultancy contracts with clients and advising our internal client base. The team also handles professional indemnity insurance, claims, and corporate/company secretarial support for designated regions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Review contracts and other legal documents, identifying and communicating potential legal implications to project and local legal teams.
  • Draft, review, and modify contractual instruments to support various business activities.
  • Negotiate, review, and draft documentation for business transactions, including developing and advising on checklists to ensure timely information submission.
  • Review and redline contracts and other project legal documents from various jurisdictions (overflow support), contributing to knowledge management for these requests.
  • Provide legal information and interpretation, conduct training, and communicate relevant legal requirements to concerned staff.
  • Adhere to Ramboll's internal policies and governance, providing guidance to stakeholders.
  • Key Deliverables (First 24 Months):

  • Service Management - Contracts: Collaborate with the GLO team to ensure timely, high-quality, pragmatic responses aligned with Ramboll governance.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop strong working relationships with Tender Managers and Company Directors within Ramboll entities.

  • Legal qualifications (LLB or equivalent) with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior in-house legal experience within a consultancy or engineering company in the construction, environmental, or infrastructure industry.
  • Proven experience in contract drafting and redlining international contracts, applying commercial acumen to contract review and advice.
  • Working knowledge of professional indemnity insurance, workmen's compensation insurance, and third-party liability insurance.
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Ability to create and deliver PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong self-learning and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures and interact with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and be results-oriented.
