ORGANIZATION:
Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you will be in-charge of managing the technical and operational performance of 4-5 vessels. Your key role is to ensure safe and efficient operations of the company’s vessels, their routine and preventive maintenance, and that all international marine requirements are complied with.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical management and operations: Planning and allocation of resources, setting processes, implementing improvement plans in a rigorous and structured way for planned and routine maintenance of the ships under your charge.
Health, Safety and Environment Compliance: Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and compliant working environment as per procedure and work towards quality and continuous improvement.
Budget management: Take full responsibility for the budgets of assigned ships. Liaise closely with the technical, purchasing, and finance teams to ensure the budget is within the agreed target. Manage dry-docking of the vessels within allotted budget limits.
Human capital development and People management: Development of performing crew teams (onshore and on-board) with a strong focus on quality, safety, operations, and technical excellence. Lead, manage and motivate the employees on board.
Relationship management: Build and maintain close relationships with the clients, ship’s crew and ship management teams, and onshore teams.
YOUR PROFILE:
- You must be a qualified Marine Engineer with Chief Engineer COC.
- Minimum of one-year experience(12 months) as a Chief Engineer on seagoing vessels is a must.
- Experience working onshore in the marine industry will be advantageous.
- In your past roles, you have demonstrated high quality technical and managerial skills in linking various organisational resources to excellent service delivery and operational results.
- People oriented and passionate about developing shipboard teams.
- Business acumen with capability to manage the budgetary responsibilities for multiple vessels.
- Highly analytical with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively with any stakeholder.
- Able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Overview

- Assist in coordinating, arranging and timely follow up Oil Major Vetting Inspections as directed.
- Attend vessels to conduct Marine Inspections and pre-vetting inspections or vetting assistance as directed. Ensure follow-up of all deficiencies noted during vessel attendance is recorded and filed in the common drive.
- Conduct annual onboard navigation audits, preferably during a short voyage. Input navigation audit results into the navigation audits database and follow up on all deficiencies and defects to closure.

- Assist in establishing annual ISM & ISPS audit plans, arrange and co-ordinate internal audits, take part in audits and follow-up correction actions.
- Assist in the investigation and root cause analysis of accidents, marine casualties and near misses.
- Assist in preparation, implementation and maintenance of office and vessel’s contingency plans.
- Liaise with the vessels in safety, navigation, operations, health, quality, security and environmental matters, including monthly response to vessels relating to Vessel Monthly Safety Reports and Near Miss Reports.

Requirements:
- Minimum 12 - 14 years experience (at sea)
- Minimum 5 - 6 year sailing experience as Chief Officer on Chemical Tankers involved in the carriage of Chemical
- Preference in sailing experience and focus on Chemical tankers.
