Our client, a prominent organization dedicated to agricultural advancement, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Soil Conservationist for their operations in Mysuru, Karnataka, IN . This role is vital for promoting and implementing sustainable land management practices that protect and improve soil resources, enhance agricultural productivity, and ensure environmental health. You will lead field teams, conduct assessments, and develop strategic plans for soil and water conservation.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of soil science, hydrology, erosion control, and ecological principles. You will be responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of conservation projects, such as contour farming, terracing, cover cropping, and reforestation. This position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively in diverse field conditions, and excellent communication and leadership capabilities. You will also be involved in educating farmers and local communities on the importance of soil conservation and best practices, fostering a collaborative approach to land stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive soil and water conservation plans and projects.
  • Conduct detailed site assessments to evaluate soil erosion, degradation, and water management issues.
  • Design and supervise the installation of soil conservation structures (e.g., terraces, check dams, bunds).
  • Promote and educate farmers on sustainable land management techniques, including crop rotation, cover cropping, and no-till farming.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in soil conservation, land management, or a related environmental discipline.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing soil conservation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of soil erosion control techniques, watershed management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing tools for land resource assessment is a plus.

**Responsibilities**
+ Undertake assessments and remediation of contaminated land, groundwater and surface water resources by applying appropriate analysis and evaluation, drawing on relevant guidance, international and national policies
+ Undertake desk-based studies of site investigation data; prepare remedial action plans and monitoring/management plans; other expert services
+ Prepare technical reports including the analysis and interpretation of investigation and monitoring data
+ Work in conjunction with senior staff in specialty domains like geotechnical and planning etc
+ Assist with preparing expressions of interest, pre-qualifications, project proposals/bids, fee estimates and project work programmes and budgets
+ Maintain knowledge of current technical standards, good practice guidance, legislation, codes of practice and New Zealand standards like the National Environmental Standard for Assessing and Managing Contaminants in Soil to Protect Human Health, Regulations 2011 (NESCS)
+ Ensure assignments are completed on schedule or in a timely manner and within budget
+ Work in sync with multidisciplinary, cross-cultural and geographically distributed teams; Integrate technical inputs from project peers to deliver the project outcome.
+ Contribute on an on-going basis toward maintaining a safe working environment both for yourself and for those working with you or in your close vicinity; Ensure that confidentiality is respected and professional work ethics are maintained at all times
