The mission of the Space Systems Engineering group is to build, test, launch, operate and maintain a constellation of small commercial satellites. The Space Systems group is also responsible for operating a segment of groundstations to provide communications with these satellites. The satellite clusters and ground segments provide the platform for RF data collection that is essential to HawkEye’s core business.

Spacecraft Electrical Assembly Integration Test Engineer

Job Description
As a Spacecraft Electrical AIT Engineer , you will lead the integration and testing of spacecraft electrical systems , ensuring end-to-end system readiness for launch. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the validation of complex, highly integrated electronic systems used in space missions.
Key Responsibilities- Create and manage all test documentation including test matrices, procedures, scripts, and final reports
- Oversee electrical AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) processes in collaboration with Quality Control (QC)
- Define and prepare Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) requirements
- Support and participate in environmental tests (TVAC, Vibration, Acoustic, EMI/EMC) at the satellite level
- Manage non-conformance and anomaly investigations , proposing corrective actions
- Support pre-launch activities and launch campaigns (typically 5–8 weeks)
- Maintain compliance with ISO 14644-1 cleanroom standards
- Ensure all activities are completed within defined timelines and resources
Must-Have Skills
- Proficient with electrical tools and test aids (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, breakout boxes )
- Strong understanding of electrical signal characterization
- Experience working with EGSE and spacecraft connector mating/demating
- Capable of writing test procedures, non-conformance reports , and automation scripts
- Working proficiency in English , both written and spoken
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering , or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with spacecraft or high-reliability systems
- Experience with test script development , preferably in Python or similar scripting languages
- Familiarity with space system standards and launch campaign operations
- Demonstrated interdisciplinary and problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Pipeline Architecture & Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of an efficient, scalable image processing pipeline for satellite optical sensor data, from raw data ingestion to analysis-ready outputs.
- Algorithm Design : Develop and optimize algorithms for key image processing stages, including radiometric and geometric correction, atmospheric correction, image enhancement, mosaicking, and orthorectification.
- Data Preprocessing: Oversee the development of robust preprocessing techniques to handle satellite imagery (noise reduction, calibration, sensor alignment, etc.) for optimal analysis accuracy.

- Automation & Scalability: Ensure the pipeline is automated, efficient, and scalable to handle high-volume satellite data processing tasks.
- Team Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers and researchers, guiding them through the design and development of components within the processing pipeline.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and GIS specialists, to integrate image processing pipelines into broader systems and applications.
- Quality Control: Ensure the pipeline delivers high-quality, accurate image products by implementing quality assurance practices and validating outputs against ground truth or reference data.

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Remote Sensing, Geospatial Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in satellite image processing, remote sensing, or related fields, focusing on optical sensor data.
Must-Have:
- Experience designing and optimizing image processing pipelines for satellite imagery, particularly optical sensors (e.g., multispectral, hyperspectral).
- Proficiency in image processing and computer vision algorithms (e.g., image correction, enhancement, feature extraction).
- Expertise in programming skills like Python, C++, or MATLAB, with experience using image processing libraries (e.g., OpenCV, GDAL, scikit-image).
