**The Role**
The Controls/Emulation engineer will be primarily responsible for execution of all Controls/Emulation related projects in various capacities at GM across the Globe with respect to Safety, Delivery, Quality, Cost and Performance.
In this position Engineer will be responsible to perform Virtual Commissioning of the system for (Body,Paint,GA,Conveyors,GPS,Press shop Layout Emulation using Emulation standard software(Emulate3D/Process Simulate) . Candidate will also be involved in working on Cell designs and online execution on various new or existing product programs across our portfolio. The incumbent will need to possess a broad technical knowledge, combined with creative and independent thinking and conceptual ability.
This position will be based out of GM Technical Center India in Bangalore and will also have few travel opportunities across different regions for project execution.
**What You'll Do**
+ Supervise and control projects including project scope, issues, risks, and schedule. Handle issues to closure. Communicate project status and ensure all internal customers are aware of progress through project meetings, status reports and reviews.
+ Have knowledge of Emulation/Virtual Commisioning process & related activities using Process Simulate/Emulate3D software.
+ Lead & develop components in Emulate 3D/Process Simulate library on G12, G16, G22 architecture (Electrical & mechanical)
+ Develop electrical & mechanical models using Demo Emulate 3D/Process Simulate
+ Collaborate with all stake holders (TCI, TCK, GMNA, GMSA) to complete the components development & complete the project & debug the program
+ Co-ordinate and lead all Emulation projects (Global & regional for Body Controls, Conveyor Controls, Press Controls, GPS etc.)
+ Train the other engineers on these software (Process Simulate/ Emulate 3D) as per business needs
+ Flexible to shift over and travel as per business needs (Emulation related or non-emulation related)
+ Emulation/Virtula Commisioning is the major focus area for this engineer during the assigned period. However, if the workload will not amount to full time work, engineer will require to perform the role of project execution of his/her own area in addition to this role.

**Role summary:**
This opening is for a Senior Systems Engineer within International Systems Engineering Organization, Wabtec Astana, The purpose of this role is to lead all the system engineering activities related to the customer requirements, subsystem and system development, and delivery of new locomotives to the international customers. This role includes customer interface, program management, requirement management, monitoring subsystem development, systems integration, build support, systems validation, in country validation, commissioning and launch support. This role has the responsibility to work collaboratively and strategically with globally diverse stakeholders to deliver best in class product configuration meeting business objectives and customer requirement. This role is also responsible for shaping the product considering reuse, leveraging standardization, modularization in consultation with product management and other cross functions.
**Essential Functions (Responsibilities):**
+ Systems Engineering ownership & responsibility to execute & deliver locomotive product for international customers meeting cost, quality, and schedule.
+ Consolidation of product and program requirements with multiple stakeholders.
+ Understand product requirements, operating environment, and regulations; Evaluate impact of requirements on engineering development schedule, cost, and lead trade-off studies.
+ Flow down requirements from product description (PD) & line by line response (LBL) into system functional specification (SFS) to define performance, reliability, cost, weight, and other targets; and to further assign the requirements to respective subsystem design areas
+ Develop platforming approach, standardization to drive business growth
+ Load approved budget and track the overall performance of engineering team to adhere to the budget
+ Interface with Program Management Office, Supply Chain and develop integrated schedule
+ Create Area Review Plans with the Chief Engineers Office and track design reviews to closure
+ Define Bill of materials (BOM) structure, track specifications and drawing release plan
+ Run core team meetings to ensure on time execution of project.
+ Communicate project status, schedules, upcoming deliverables, risks, issues, and technical solutions between various stakeholders. Method of communications to include, but not limiting to, design reviews, operational reviews, and team meetings.
+ Configuration management of software options specific to customer application
+ Identify detailed validation requirements, drill down for subsystems, planning and execution
+ Support Prototype locomotive build and manage product changes till customer acceptance
+ Lead Engineering validation, customer demonstration test at build locations, conduct trials on customer track, commissioning & customer documentation
+ Extensive Travel to factory's & customer sites to build support / perform locomotive validation for extended periods
+ Document technical data generated by the assigned project per engineering policies and procedures

+ Partner with cross functional team in driving customer discovery session to incorporate learning from past projects, field & operational experience in country.
+ Partner with cross functional team in driving post project evaluation to document project learning to be used in future programs

**Basic Requirement & Qualifications**
Bachelor's degree in Mechanicl / Electrical, Electronics (or) Controls Engineering from a university of repute Minimum of 12 years of engineering experience preferably in locomotive domain or similar industry Minimum of 5 years' design experience in relevant specialization. Strong understanding & knowledge of Requirements Management, DFMEA, Design to Cost, Bill of Material Structure, Standardization, Verification, Validation, Technical Publication, and defect reporting Good understanding of manufacturing, assembly & serviceability requirements Good understanding of configurable software options design and selection. Hands on experience in factory support, production testing, engineering validation and commissioning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work in a cross-functional, global teams Demonstrated experience in influencing at all levels of the organization and customer relationship skill
**Desired:**
Master's degree in engineering Proven record of practicing systems engineering tools and techniques Good understanding of customer requirements in international locomotives domain Demonstrated experience and ability to execute NPI programs Technical depth in freight & passenger locomotive application & subsystem design through validation Familiarity with the range of technologies as applicable to freight/passenger Locomotives including but not limited to diesel and battery electric locomotives Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems using quality tools Six Sigma Green Belt certification will be a plus Strong technical aptitude, including hands on experience on the use of engineering tools Strong oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers Experience in techno commercial proposals
