- To ensure the daily inventory is maintained.
- To ensure the dressing trolley, Medicine trolley, Dressing trays, emergency trays and kits are ready and sterile.
- To ensure the trays are autoclaved.
- To take a round of patients along with Consultant doctor, Medical Officer.
- To ensure, practice & implement the Bio-medical waste management rules as per GPCB norms.
- All case papers of the wards, special rooms and deluxe rooms to be checked and ensured of last 12 hours. Particularly the nursing sheet part, reports of investigations, Pre & Post operative orders and any other procedures.
- Patient should be attended immediately after admission by a nurse.
- Try to keep the moral of the patient high
- To ensure the personal hygiene of the patient & cleanliness of patients’ area.
- To ensure the diet provided to the patients is appropriate.
- To attend training programs as and when organized by the hospital.
- To be present on their respective work station round the duty time.
- Nursing chart/Treatment sheet to be checked and ensured for the timely execution of doctors’ order with proper recording and implementation.
- Pre operative orders if any to be followed as per the instruction of medical officer on duty and to ensure the consent of the patients’ are signed and documented.
- Post-operative patients to be monitored every 2 hourly according to the instruction of the medical officer
- Post-operative patient should be encouraged with proper breathing technique, coughing technique and mobilization.
- If the patient is having ryles tube then should carry out ryles tube feeding as per the instruction of medical officer on duty.
- Ward boy/aaya ben to carry out procedures such as enema insertion/ bowel wash under observation of nurse
- Special care to be given to the patients with catheter, drains & i. V. lines
- To ensure the isolation protocols are followed by all in case of infected patients e.g. MRSA, Kochs/TB,
- I.V. drip to be monitored time to time as per the instruction of the medical officer
- To ensure the Doctors’ sheet is filed and ready for the round.
- Treatment sheet to be checked thoroughly for whether co-staff has completed their medication & nursing care part is implemented.
- To send the request of investigations to the relevant department. To ensure the prescribed investigations are carried out on time. To ensure the reports are received and informed to the medical officer. To ensure the reports are documented.
- Handing over the charge to the nurse of the next shift.
- To inform the matron in case of absence of reliever nurse. Do not leave your working station unless the reliever is available.
- To adhere to the duties allocated, if any changes required in duty allocation to be informed to matron. Any planned and emergency leaves to be approved and intimated to matron. To attend any emergency calls as and when required.
- To ensure the treatment is given to the patients properly, timely & to be recorded on the treatment sheet.
- To record patients’ vitals, input and output charts regularly. To ensure the special procedures are charted properly such as Enema, Ryles tube feeding.
- To maintain different records --the admission
- discharge register of the patient, Death register, CSSD register for exchange of the trays.
- Inter-departmental transfers should be recorded and documented properly.
- Admitted patients’ case papers to be documented correctly and properly with patient’s full name, age, gender, contact no, address
- To check & ensure all time availability of emergency medicines and the stock in the ward.
- To work continuously for enhancement of quality for the department.
- To maintain patients’ confidence by keeping personal and disease related information confidential.
- To counsel the relatives of the patient as and when required and same to be documented.
- To Plan, administer, organize, and successfully implement all activities in relation to the nursing for camps, company work, promotional schemes, discount policies etc.
- To follow all the policies of the institute including safety measures and uniform policies.
- Ensure that all staff members are well trained and encourage them to attend and participate in the training programs organized by the hospital
- Assignment and allocation support should be given to the junior staff.
- Ensure the Segregation/storage and transport of BMW according to EPCB and mat guidelines and SOP.
