**About you**
Ideally you are degree qualified in a relevant engineering subject.
2+ years of experience in a similar Substation engineer / Protection and control engineering role, preferably working with US based customers.
Good understanding of cable & conduit runs, voltage drop calcs, battery sizing, ground grid calculations, Lightning protection studies, lighting system, sizing calculations for station service (AC).
Capable of preparing and verifying calculations using engineering formulas and skills or application specific software as required.

This critical role will involve the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical systems for large-scale industrial projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in power distribution, protection systems, and electrical schematics for substations, power plants, or similar high-voltage environments. You will be responsible for conceptualizing electrical system designs, performing detailed engineering calculations, creating comprehensive design documentation, and overseeing the execution of projects from initial concept through to commissioning. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site personnel, is essential. This position, based in Mysuru, Karnataka, IN , requires a hands-on approach and a commitment to delivering state-of-the-art electrical solutions. We are looking for a technical expert who can provide leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to innovative engineering solutions that meet the highest industry standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for high voltage applications, including substations and power distribution networks.
  • Perform detailed electrical calculations for load flow, short circuit, grounding, and lightning protection.
  • Create electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
  • Specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protective relays.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC).
  • Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct design reviews and risk assessments for electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design and operational issues.
  • Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers, fostering their professional development.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
  • Minimum of 7-9 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with a focus on high voltage systems.
  • Proven experience in designing substations, transmission lines, or industrial power distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of power system protection principles and equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple design tasks.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a highly desirable asset.
