MTS SOFTWARE SYSTEM DESIGN ENGINEER
The Role
AMD is looking for an experienced Staff Level engineer for an exciting role in Server CPU software development team. This person will be a member of a core team and will work with the latest hardware and software technology. The person will interact closely with key AMD technical experts to ensure the best possible performance and results on AMD platforms.

The successful candidate for this position will be interacting with software and hardware technologists working across many locations. This is a great opportunity to work as a part of highly regarded team to deliver leading edge solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance Optimization: Analyze and solve performance, scalability bottlenecks when code is running on multi-core, multi-node deployments for AMD Zen CPUs.
• Low-Level Development: Develop, debug, and maintain high-performance libraries using C, C++, and x86 assembly.
• Profiling and Analysis: Conduct detailed performance profiling and analysis to identify bottlenecks and propose innovative solutions.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and champion best practices for writing high-performance, low-level code.
• Innovate and publish papers, patents and participate in technical conferences to advance AMD technologies.

Preferred Experience

• Understanding of x86-64 instruction pipelines, cache sub-system architecture, and hardware prefetchers to write and optimize code that interacts directly with the Zen CPUs.
• Experience on x86 assembly/intrinsic programming (vector/SIMD)
• Knowledge of compiler and kernel internals and an understanding of how code is translated into machine instructions.
• Experience in identifying performance bottlenecks and designing/implementing optimizations to reduce analyzed bottlenecks for.
• Experience contributing to open-source projects such as GNU.

Academic Credentials

• Graduate/master's degree in computer science or related fields

The Principal Systems Design / Architecture Engineer is a highly skilled subject matter expert, responsible for providing expertise in defining the architecture for large systems.

This role conducts system design activities to ensure that architectural solutions meet technical and functional requirements.

The Principal Systems Design / Architecture Engineer performs architectural analysis, evaluation, and design of systems that support and seeks to solve complex business and technical problems.

Key responsibilities:

• Provides technical expertise on system design activities and advises on the review of application, software, and system components across a variety of technology stacks.
• Ensures that architectural solutions meet technical and functional requirements.
• Works cross functionally to review existing system architecture and recommends improvements.
• Leads the investigation and scoping of change requests to determine the scale of work to be done and estimate the timeframe and input required.
• Determines system loads and volumes as input into infrastructure requirements.
• Ensures that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with the company's goals and strategies.
• Enables the design and development of new systems and solutions.
• Ensures that new systems and solutions conform to current system architecture and/or align to strategic system architectural direction.
• Leads architectural analysis, evaluation, and design of systems that support and seek to solve complex business and technical problems.
• Enables and ensures that system architecture is delivered in the form of robust and scalable solutions to business problems and needs.
• Identifies, evaluates, and assesses risks in order to mitigate them and eliminates any factor that may interfere or hinder the delivery of the architectural solution and dependent functional requirements.
• Advises on specifications for solutions functional and technical requirements, and implementation phases required in order to deliver on and solve complex business problems.
• Implements architectural governance, standards, metrics for measuring, monitoring and improving architecture.
• Proactively identifies potential problems that could be remediated by more effective architectural solutions.
• Performs any other related task as required.

• Lead and mentor a team of SAP support analysts and engineers across modules and geographies in handling incidents, service requests, and enhancements and problem management processes.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to procurement, inventory management, material master data, production planning, capacity planning, and shop floor execution.
  
• Act as the primary escalation point for complex SAP BackOffice issues, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (FI/CO, SD, QM, WM, PM) to resolve integration issues.
  
• Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions to recurring problems.
  
• Manage change requests, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, and deployment.

• Strong functional knowledge in procurement, inventory control, MRP, production scheduling, BOMs, routings, capacity planning, SAP Ariba (including SCC, CIG, Contract Management, and Supplier Onboarding), EHSM, APO, Cloud integration technologies, and SAP BTP.
  
• Experience in managing enhancement projects or small-scale implementations.
  
• Good understanding of end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing processes.
  
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA environment is an advantage.
  
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead a small team of consultants and ensure efficient support delivery.
  
• Proficient in creating presentations and knowledgeable in productivity tools such as PowerPoint, Visio, Microsoft Project, and Excel (knowledge of macros and VBScript is a plus).
  

Good to have:

• A robust understanding of ITIL-based Service Delivery and Service Management processes will be beneficial for success in this role.
  
• SAP MM/PP certification from SAP.
  
• Exposure to integration with SAP Ariba, GATP, GTS will be added advantage.
