The Tax Analyst is a trainee professional role. Requires a good knowledge of the range of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which the job is based. Good understanding of how the team interacts with others in accomplishing the objectives of the area. Makes evaluative judgements based on the analysis of factual information. They are expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
  • Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
  • Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
  • May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
  • Directs small to medium-sized Finance operational/administrative team(s) of clerical or junior professional employees.
  • Advises on procedures and concepts in technical/subject area and integrates with others in accomplishing the goals of the sub function/ job family.

  • Basic understanding of tax information reporting rules applicable to Persons and Persons
  • Basic understanding and working knowledge of IRS Forms W-9 and W-8 and their associated requirements; Forms 1098, 1099 series, and 1042-S; Forms 945 and 1042
  • Excellent communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with key stakeholders. Provide basic advisory services primarily for internal clients
  • Ability to examine processes and procedures, experience with Process Re-engineering. Re-design and Process Automation experience is preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

    2. Corporate Tax Matters:

    • Ensuring compliance with local and global tax regulations (Country-by-country-reporting & Master file)
    • Having knowledge of tax treaties (Double Tax Avoidance Agreement) and able to do international tax research on such matters.
    • Involved in ensuring compliance like Advance tax payment, TDS, computation, tax
    • review with Corporate / Mgmt. /tax advisors and Group /Finance Controller teams for group holding companies.
    • Tax Research on tax technical issues.
    • Contribute to the analysis of tax issues affecting the company.


    3. Tax Accounting:

    • Assisting in the computation of current tax & Defer tax.
    • Assisting in the calculation & Analysis of Effective tax rate (ETR).
    • Providing necessary Support for IFRS/GAAP audit from tax perspective.


    4. Withholding Tax (WHT) Applicability:

    • Finalization the WHT rate for cross-border transactions.
    • Reference to Tax Treaty for WHT applicability & rate.

    About The Team

    The role will initially report to the Indirect tax Manager and is based in the Noida or Bengaluru office in India.

    The Tax Intermediate Analyst is a developing professional role. Deals with most problems independently and has some latitude to solve complex problems. Integrates in-depth specialty area knowledge with a solid understanding of industry standards and practices. Applies analytical thinking and knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies. Requires attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of factual information. Typically deals with variable issues with potentially broader business impact. Applies professional judgment when interpreting data and results. Breaks down information in a systematic and communicable manner. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to exchange potentially complex/sensitive information. Moderate but direct impact through close contact with the businesses' core activities.     Responsibilities:

    Execute functions from the Non-Income Tax Reporting taxonomy including, but not limited to, VAT/GST reporting and remittance, business tax inquiries, controversy and audit management.

    • Supports the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with third parties, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
    • Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
    • Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy non-income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
    • May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
    • Identifies and resolves problems using autonomous judgment.
    • Implements work flow or process change and redesign, and uses a thorough knowledge of the specific function.
    • Accountable for regular reporting or process administration as "owner".
    • Primary focus is on execution within defined parameters.
    • Assists in the management of one or more processes, reports, procedures or products.
    • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
    • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.

    Qualifications:

    • 4-7 years of relevant exp
    • Relevant hands-on experience with Non-Income Tax Consolidation .
    • International taxing VAT/GST experience.
    • Acumen in the management of non-income tax reporting requirements applicable to products and services across Citi's lines of business including Value Added, GST, and other Non-US Non-Income Tax.
    • Strong communication skills to drive engagement and close interactions with stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational skills are required
    • Ability to interact with all levels of internal customers and senior management
    • Bachelors degree or equivalent professional experience.
