Reporting to the Tax Director, Tax Assistant Manager will be responsible for compliance with all applicable tax laws in the assigned countries in the Middle-east, Asia- pacific and LATAM regions. Responsibilities include maintaining up-to-date documentation of Amentum's compliance efforts, coordinating with external foreign tax consultants, and supervising foreign tax audits. It is essential to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of our industry specific VAT issues, Supply chain models, Intercompany agreements and tax reporting.
**Principle Accountabilities**
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for monthly/Quarterly and Annual Tax compliance for LATM, Africa, Middle & Far East and Asia-Pacific regions
- Responsible for providing Program and Finance Managers guidance and assistance with tax compliance efforts including, but not limited to GST/VAT, transfer pricing, withholding tax requirements for each country in the assigned region.
- Responsible for preparation and review of tax filings or other compliance requirements, as needed.
- Maintains and manages a tax calendar by country to ensure the timely filing and paying of taxes.
- Manages outside foreign tax consultants for each country in the assigned region.
- Reviews and keep up to date on all applicable bi-lateral agreements.
- Interprets the applicability of various bi-lateral agreements as to the tax liability of the company in the host country.
- Verifies where the company must be registered and assists in maintaining such registrations.
- Verifies all tax return requirements including the need for any audited financial statements that must accompany the returns.
- Oversees and manage foreign tax audits.
- Oversees the reconciliation of tax accounts.
- Prepares technical white papers and executive briefings as necessary.
**OTHER or ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- May supervise staff when assigned.

**Experience & Education**
- Bachelor's degree in Tax or Accounting required; CA/CPA is required.
- Post completion of CA/ CPA Four (4) or more years of experience in tax.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Big 4 or multinational corporate tax department.
- Previous experience in international tax is preferred.
**Physical Requirements/Working Environment**
Work is in normal office environment.
**Travel**
Domestic or International travel may be required occasionally.

Purpose

Role and responsibilities:

Direct Tax

  • Ensure timely compliance of tax returns, registration with various tax and regulatory authority

  • To support in coordination with the external counsel and appearance before the statutory authorities

Tax reporting & Advance tax compliances:
+ HUL being the listed entity in India & part of UL Group, tax reporting and advance tax compliance are critical and as entity, we have committed to timely and accurate reporting and payment to the exchequer. This role has the responsibility for preparation of timely and accurate advance tax computations and tax provisions. This requires close co-ordination with business & Finance Business Partners in fact-finding, collating accounting information, technical research incl. search of past judicial precedents/ commentaries, etc. The role provides support in compilation of all this information for an informed tax treatment by Direct Tax Lead for the Group.
Withholding - TDS & TCS compliances:
+ As we have seen past few years, the Indian government has been introducing new WHT (TDS / TCS) provisions every year to increase the tax net under Direct tax
+ The landing of new tax law for all UL India entities is a key activity as it involves steps like - evaluating a new tax law, interacting with Business teams to undertake the impact assessment, IT development, landing the change across UL India entities and across business segments, communication to the Business/ Business Partners being impacted by the change
+ This role plays a pivotal to support the implementation of new tax law - co-ordinating with the Business teams, preparing position notes, draft communications (internal and external), etc.
+ The role has a responsibility of ensuring and governing timely TDS & TCS compliances with support of shared service team and external service providers.
Supporting departmental audits:
+ HUL is a listed entity is India & is committed to robust tax submissions during the course of tax assessments.
+ The departmental audits are now under faceless tax regime and hence, the written submissions play a critical role in representation before the revenue authorities.
+ The submissions form the base for future outcome as well as set the foundation for future appeals/ litigation, in case the department disagrees to HUL's tax treatment
+ Therefore, the role is of critical importance to ensure compilation and preparation of information for onward submission to the revenue authorities. This requires extensive co-ordination with various stakeholders like Finance, service providers, shared service team, etc. to ensure we have right set of information for representation.
Supporting Litigation Management:
+ The role requires closing monitoring of upcoming appeals, compilation of information for appeals, compilation of paper book, co-ordinating with External Counsels/ consultants for briefing of the direct tax matters (including transfer pricing).
Other roles and responsibilities:
+ Providing support on Indirect Tax matters, including GST compliance, assessments, audits, and regulatory updates.

9. Global Tax Standards Alignment

  • Assist in the implementation of Pillar 2 tax compliance measures in line with OECD guidelines and global tax standards.
  • Collaborate with international teams to ensure readiness and reporting accuracy.


Required Qualifications & Experience

• Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent certification in taxation.

• 2–4 years of experience in direct tax compliance, advisory, and audits.

• Proven expertise in transfer pricing and international tax regulations.


Domain Expertise

• In-depth knowledge of Indian direct tax laws and regulations.

• Familiarity with transfer pricing methodologies and documentation requirements.

• Understanding of global tax compliance frameworks, including Pillar 2.


Capabilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex tax scenarios.

• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.

• Ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure compliance and

strategic alignment.

• Proactive approach to identifying and mitigating tax risks
