The impact you will have:
The role of Cloud Support Engineer is to implement, manage, and support cloud deployments, systems, and services to ensure high levels of availability, redundancy, and business continuity. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for managing the client's Azure infrastructure spanning multiple data centers, focusing on performance, availability, and stability. You will work closely with automation tools and processes such as Azure Dev/Ops, continuous integration, and automation of infrastructure components. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our cross-functional development/analytics teams to deploy and operate our systems and help automate and streamline our IT operations processes. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of technical knowledge, a “customer first” attitude, mentoring team members, and ownership.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a trusted security advisor in your assigned vertical, participating in high-value customer engagement
- Build, deploy, and manage Virtual Machines, PaaS services such as Analytics, and automation in the Azure Cloud environment.
- Lead and act as an SME for Azure platforms (IaaS, Intune/Autopilot, etc.) within the IT operations team.
- Create deployment guides, Standard operating procedures, and perform Knowledge transfers to other members in the team.m
- Experience with performing backups (Commvault), upgrading (patching), performance tuning, monitoring, alerting, deployments, and disaster recovery within the Azure cloud environment
- Implement and conduct Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly health checks for the Cloud environment and all the other integration platforms.ms
- Perform a system audit to ensure performance benchmarks are met and provide recommendations and a roadmap for future enhancements, considering growth and optimization.
- Maintain and update Cloud support policies, practices, and methodologies.
- Responsible for resolving support tickets within the ITSM platform tool; incidents, service requests, problem tickets, and change requests.
- Design, write, and deliver scripts (JSON, PowerShell, Perl, Python) and automation code to improve the availability, scalability, reliability, and efficiency of On-prem, Azure Cloud, and application integration platforms.
- Prevent problem recurrence through repeatable automated processing.
- Review current toolsets and unlock capabilities not leveraged by the IT Dept.
- Participate in process improvement discussions, identify bottlenecks/challenges, and provide technical insight.
- Assist in scoping and deployment of configuration management tools such as CMDB, Ansible, Puppet, etc., to improve efficiency and enhance the end-user experience.
- Participate in POC’s and projects focused on business transformation, including new technology deployment, ensuring uptime of systems, and integration with different business systems.
- Provide guidance and build documentation around the overall architecture and operations of technology.
- Perform tasks to implement an intake request with utmost proficiency and a forward-looking approach, i.e., decommissioning On-Prem infrastructure, moving On-Prem services to Cloud or PaaS, etc.
- Take ownership of all assigned tasks, projects, and drive to resolution; researching and escalating to the vendor, as necessary.
- Develop plans for system upgrades, enhancements, and create architectural diagrams.
- Manage, support, and enhance the Voice Platforms; MS Teams and Cisco UC suite of tools (UCCX/CUCM)
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly knowledge sharing sessions to guide technical skills enhancement for the Service Desk team.
- Manage and support escalation requests from the Service Desk team.
- Provide a senior-level mentorship to Service Desk team members on daily issues.
- Create and regularly update knowledge articles for the Service Desk team and the IT operations team to share the knowledge.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- Computer Science / Information Technology degree or diploma, or equivalent industry experience
- Post-secondary education obtained by a community college or one or more professional designations
- Up to 7 years of experience in Server and Cloud Administration.
- This job also requires building a DevOps practice within the internal IT group, so industry knowledge of best practices in automation and DevOps is a must-have
- IT-aligned engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent work experience.
- Microsoft Azure Certification is a MUST (AZ100 or AZ300 preferred)
- VMWare Virtualization Certification is an Asset
