About the Role:
As a Textile Design Intern, you will support the development and production of textiles across various collections — including international, Indian market, kidswear, and knitwear. This role offers hands-on experience in both creative design and production coordination, with a focus on artisanal processes, sustainability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Timely development and design of textile samples for international collections, Indian market collections, kidswear, and knitwear.
- Managing and coordinating the end-to-end sourcing and production of textiles.
- Research and development to enhance textiles through sustainable options and certifications.
Key Tasks :
- Generate ideas and concepts for prints and weaves according to the designer’s brief.
- Study different base fabric qualities for strength, fall, and wash care; try various dyeing techniques and mixed media surface techniques.
- Design and coordinate weaving — mainly stripes and checks, along with jamdani and jacquard.
- Develop designs for prints and coordinate with artisans for block printing, ajrakh printing, hand painting, and marble printing for the main collection and the new kidswear line.
- Work with colour theories and different types of dyes (natural and azo-free) for clamp dyeing, bandhani, tie-dye, shibori, etc.
- Create designs and khakas for embroidery — both machine and hand embroidery, including kantha, thread work, and glass bead embroidery.
- Develop customised artisanal trims such as ceramic buttons, wooden buttons, resin buttons, etc.
- Work on designs as per commercial analytics and price points.
- Visit artisan centers and get sampling done in villages.
- Coordinate end-to-end — from design concepts to final textile production.
- Design prints and dye applications for knitwear.
- Design crochet trims, pieces, and prints for knits.
- Produce sketches, designs, graphs, and samples for any customisations.
- Prepare mood boards for textiles and trims.
