IPCL invites experienced and results-driven professionals to lead the Commercial Operations of the company, responsible for driving revenue assurance, billing accuracy, loss reduction, customer relationship management, and regulatory compliance across the commercial operations of the power distribution business at the Distribution Licensed area in Asansol, West Bengal.
As the ‘Assistant General Manager – Commercial’, the incumbent will be responsible to-
- Lead and manage end-to-end commercial operations, including metering, billing, and collections.
- Ensure 100% billing and collection efficiency across consumer categories for financial sustainability and loss minimization.
- Implement tariff restructuring and pricing strategies to ensure adherence to SERC regulations, tariff orders, and statutory commercial obligations as per the regulatory framework from time to time.
- Implement strategies, monitor, and reduce AT&C losses through structured interventions.
- Implement energy audits, smart metering rollouts, and data accuracy initiatives to strengthen internal controls and prevent theft/fraud/revenue leakages.
- Improve and enhance customer experience through effective engagement and timely grievance redressal, and service delivery.
- Drive digital transformation and automation across commercial processes.
- Drive Energy Auditing & Accounting and coordinate with BEE for compliance.
- Lead the team for Smart Meter deployment.
- Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and expansion areas within the power distribution sector.
-Engage with key stakeholders, including large industrial and commercial consumers, officials in the state Regulatory like REC, PFC, STU/CTU, SLDC, WBERC/CERC/CEA/ERPC, etc.
-Handling legal matters pertaining to commercial processes.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence
-Lead the commercial team in the licensed area to drive operational excellence and ensure performance tracking via dashboards.
Desired skills and competencies-
-Graduate engineer in Electrical, preferably with an M.BA in Finance/Energy Management, having 10+ years’ experience in the power distribution sector, with significant exposure to business and commercial functions.
- Strong understanding of electricity regulatory policies, commercial codes, and tariff structures.
-Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen in revenue management.
- Experience in handling a large consumer base (urban + rural mix preferred).
- Proficiency in ERP, CRM, and MIS systems.

What You'll Do
'short overview: Lead the plant operations for PD products (Bussmann , MV , LV, CPC products )to deliver operations metrcis for PD products month on month and to support sales team to meet the Top line as per PP for PD products. This position will be responsible for supporting revenue of $83M in PD products
Primary function:
- Drive continous improvement culture in PD segment with the team to continuosly upgrade the performance of the operations team to meet the high 5 metrics every month through effective use EBS tools.
- Build a culture of team work across all functions in the PD operations so that in addition to individual functional goal , every member works for the plant goal and also focusses actions to achive revenue numbers as per the Business PP.
- Review performances on intervals and mitigate action plan to meet the desired targets'
- 'Support sales team to acheive Revenue target month on month through timely support of delivering various products manufactured from the plant and through imports in the PD product segment.($83M in 2024)
- Driving CI culture in PD operations to continuously upgrade the plant performances
- Meet the daily customer delivery requirements and ensure OTD is mainatined at world class standards in PD product segment
- Establish setting the LEAN lines for all the localisation and NPI products as per Strategic plans for PD products
- Drive ZISC in the PD plant with cross functional support of safety department
- Estimate capacity challenges based on future forecast and plan for CAPEX to equip the line for future demands
- Support ELSS cost out through productivity projects in shop floor
- Ensure Industrial harmony in the plant through trust , transparency and through actions based on incidents
- Driving LOPs to upgrade themselves through coaching and undergoing the required training to manage the team effectively.
- Drive Industry 4.0 initiatives in the PD line to become model line along with other stake holders
