Position Summary:
(Primary Function) Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Technical Execution
- Produce accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the appropriate detail
- Ability to critique technical documentation as needed
- Deliver customer value in the form of high quality software components and services in adherence with RPR policies on Security, performance, longevity and Integration testing
- Proactively Identifies and proposes new, alternative technology in order to create scalable implementations and achieve results.
- Accurately estimate the size of development tasks in story points; challenge other during estimation
- Provide high level T-shirt sizing for the work required to build smaller software components and services
- Understand and follow coding conventions, architectures, and best practices; hold other members of the team accountable for doing so
- Write, debug, and deploy code to production; deliver timely fixes
- Participates in team member interview process as needed; influences final hiring decisions.
- Scale systems to meet business demand
- Deploy systems to meet availability targets (HA/DR)
- Adhere to DOD (story definition of done) as part of the sprint, including unit tests, functional testing, code reviews, no regressions, bug fixes, documentation and adhere to best coding practices
- Perform peer code reviews in order to ensure quality standards.
Contributions to the Team
- Act as the subject matter expert for their area of assignment
- Participate on scrum teams following practices outlined by team
- Take ownership of what the team builds after the release; consider customer adoption as success criteria
- Contribute to agile ceremonies to improve team performance
- Volunteer for work in the backlog and commit to quality delivery; Coordinate efforts across the team to ensure completion and effectiveness
- Participate and contribute to scrum meetings i.e. daily stand-up, sprint planning, readouts and retrospectives

Cross functional Coordination and Communication
- Work collaboratively across the Technology and Product organizations to ensure alignment towards business goals

- Share business and technical learnings with the broader engineering and product organization, while adapting approach for different audiences
Mentorship of Others
- Advise and train members of the team to maximize overall productivity and effectiveness of the team.
Education, Experience, & Skills Required:
- 8-12 years of experience in an engineering role.
- Hands-on experience in an Agile environment.
- Been a part of SDLC, deployment, and support of software projects.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. • Significant software engineering skills and computer science experience.
- Working knowledge of modern programming languages such as Java, Spring Boot, Node JS, React, JavaScript/jQuery, and TypeScript.
- Working experience in architecting/developing solutions on AWS.
- Working knowledge of Version Control Management tools like Perforce and Git.
- Working knowledge of DevOps tools like Terraform, Jenkins, Groovy, and Docker.
- Working experience with object-oriented programming, relational database technologies, distributed computing tech, and RESTful APIs.
- Demonstrated experience in leading or developing high-quality, enterprise-scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle.

The Team:
The Service Operations Site Reliability Engineering team is a newly formed branch of the Network Operations Center. The team sits within the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) division which is responsible for delivering high quality and highly available SaaS infrastructure and internal tools. You will be working closely with our internal stakeholders from the R&D and Cloud Infrastructure organizations using modern toolsets to deliver resilient & scalable business solutions. Consistent with SRE practices, a key goal for this team is to measure & reduce toil, not only for ourselves but for the broader NOC & Service Operations organizations.
Job Responsibilities
· Provisioning and ongoing management of physical & virtual Linux machines using tools like Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform, to name a few
· Engage closely with sister teams to assume ownership of various system lifecycle tasks
· Automate away toil and/or create empowerment processes for transitioning high urgency work to the NOC’s rapid response team
· Build automated monitoring & observability using tools such as Prometheus/AlertManager, iCinga, Grafana, etc.
· Participate in all Agile/scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, etc.
· Participate in the team’s on-call rotation (expected to begin late 2024, early 2025)
· Work closely with internal teams to integrate new monitoring & alerts into the NOC using Perl scripting to author custom parsing & mapping rules
· Develop metrics and observability dashboards which can be used to measure and track various success measures for the team & the business
Typical Qualifications
· 5+ years of professional experience delivering SaaS solutions, preferably in a hybrid cloud environment
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Computer Science / Engineering program
· Proven experience using query languages to deliver observability solutions
· Proficiency working with one or more configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
· Admin-level expertise with a Unix-based operating system
· Proven ops background using cloud-native best practices
· Proven proficiency with one or more scripting languages (Python, Ruby, Perl, Java, etc.)
· Proficiency working with Git & Atlassian suite or similar

**What does a successful Program Management Expert do at Fiserv?**
A successful Program Manager at Fiserv leads cross-functional stability and automation initiatives involving operations, development, architecture, automation, and technology services teams. This role is critical in ensuring end-to-end program execution, stakeholder alignment, and delivery excellence across multiple workstreams. The Program Managers efforts directly contribute to Fiserv's mission to drive innovation and operational efficiency in financial technology.
**What you will do:**
+ Lead and manage complex programs involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
+ Collaborate with operations, development, Automation Team, and architecture teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
+ Drive data collation and reporting efforts using tools like JIRA, Clarity, and Power BI.
+ Maintain program documentation (roadmap, program charters, project plans, etc.), dashboards, and release calendars.
+ Facilitate sprint planning, retrospectives, and governance meetings. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
+ Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
+ Identify risks and mitigation strategies proactively.
+ Generate and present regular reports on program status, risks, and performance metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
**What you will need to have:**
+ Proven experience in program management across cross-functional teams.
+ Strong understanding of Agile & software development lifecycle and release management.
+ Hands-on experience with JIRA, Power BI, and project tracking tools.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
**What would be great to have:**
+ PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent program management certification.
+ Experience in cloud migration, automation, or infrastructure programs is a plus.
+ Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
+ Familiarity with ITIL processes - Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management.
