We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Tax Reporting & Compliance Manager II to join our Global Tax Operations team. This role is located in Pune, MH – HYBRID role.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Manages a team responsible for preparing and maintaining tax and regulatory records, returns, and reports for internal and/or external clients. Team is responsible for processing relief at source & filing quick refunds in global markets. 
  • Oversees work performed by the team. 
  • Designs, implements and monitors metrics customized to respective clients/management team.
  • Presents analysis and tax and other regulatory strategy recommendations to clients.
  • Manages processes for conducting calculations and reporting on behalf of clients.
  • Assists clients in addressing tax and/or regulatory questions posed by their investors.
  • Partners with Tax Product/Tax technical research to monitor the regulatory landscapes/changes and implements the same within operations.
  • Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. 
  • Manages a team of Tax Reporting and Compliance professionals and support staff.
  • Responsible for the achievement of team goals and objectives, talent management and supervision of team members.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Bachelors degree in a business discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 13 plus years of total work experience and 4-5 years of management experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Tax Operations, Relief at source/Quick refunds/tax reclaims filing and Mandatory/voluntary corporate actions is preferred.

Every drop of oil, water & condensate & cubic foot of gas produced by bp passes through a pipeline looked after by the team. The successful candidates will carry out various roles, including:
  • Regional Pipeline Field Support: Supporting execution & assessment of subsea inspection campaigns & defining repair requirements.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Integrity Management support: Working closely with engineers in the regions to manage subsea & pipeline integrity management data in our NEXUS-IC database, the Anomaly Assessment & Tracking system & Inspection Data loading.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Geospatial, Documentation & Performance Management support: Working closely with engineers in the regions to manage our inspection & engineering data in the GIS (PODS), improve accessibility to our documents in the Electronic Document Management System & build & maintain Power BI dashboards.
General responsibilities for Pipeline Engineers:
  • Elements of the role include risk assessment, integrity management plan development, maintenance, inspection & repair execution engineering support, anomaly assessment, & interaction with major projects
  • Provides timely updates to Inspection Data Specialist on inspections and repairs scopes and ensures accuracy of the data including QA/QC, timely application of engineered solutions and documentations.
  • Leading & participating pipeline integrity & improvement activities around the world
  • Provide pipeline engineering expertise as the Equipment Owner for the pipeline related equipment & System Owner for any transportation systems as assigned by region.
  • Region / global pipeline related Domain Expert as assigned by the Pipeline Field Lead support all regions in areas of expertise when requested.
  • Integrate with associated fields to ensure adequate equipment care, including maintenance & engineering, corrosion, flow assurance, production chemistry, pressure systems integrity, process safety & structural & civil engineering.
  • Ensure pragmatic solutions are identified to manage risk, production efficiency, defect elimination & standardization, to deliver safe, reliable & compliant operations.
  • Own & maintain the documents & data for the assigned equipment.

Role synopsis

The Senior Process Engineer – Distillation and Separations provides technical support for BP’s refineries and production facilities, working with site engineering and operations groups to improve process safety, reliability, and commercial performance of crude distillation units (CDU), vacuum distillation units (VDU), other fractionation towers throughout the refinery or in production facilities as well as supporting the performance of separators in both upstream and downstream facilities.

This role reports to the Separations, Water and Desalting Discipline Leader in the Engineering branch of BP-Solutions and is a key contributor to the Separations Sub-Discipline Network (SDN) agenda and performance.

While part of a global team, the remainder of the team is comprised of technology experts who are co-located at refineries or in a central location. The successful candidate will therefore need to be self-motivated and capable of working independently and virtually within the geographically dispersed team.

Key accountabilities

Provide focused short-term support for CDU/VDU and separations equipment including start-up and shutdown, turnaround, process optimization and troubleshooting.

Provide medium and long-term distillation and separations support by means of process safety improvements, project evaluation and assurance, and implementation of new technology options.

Conduct technical training and mentoring for refinery/production engineers and operating staff.

Contribute to BP’s Distillation and Separations knowledge base by participating in peer assist discussions, contributions to the Q&A forum, and additions to BP’s technical handbook and Engineering Technical Practices (ETP’s).

Provide technical support for the planning and onsite execution of CDU/VDU turnarounds (TARs), including equipment inspection, coordination and interpretation of sample analyses, and written documentation of findings and recommendations.

Support the Discipline Leader and Distillation and Separations Advisor in providing technical leadership to the SDN’s, Industry committees, etc.

Work with other technology teams (Coker, FCC, Hydro-processing, LPG) to ensure our knowledge of distillation is applied throughout our businesses.

Essential Education

Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering (or equivalent)

Essential experience and job requirements

15 years or more of refining or production experience comprising one or more assignments providing technical support to the operation and/or optimization of CDU/VDU or comparable separations equipment.

High levels of mathematical, literary, and interpersonal skills are required.

Candidate’s background should reveal a proactive track record of improving safety, reliability, and commercial performance of refining or production units.

Refinery process engineering experience is preferred.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

The Senior Process Safety Engineer will join the Projects India organisation in the engineering and quality team to provide engineering expertise, oversight, judgment and support to Production & Operations (P&O) Projects.

The role is based at the Pune office but will require significant contractor facing work at major engineering contractor office locations in both India and possibly ex-India.

What you will deliver

  • Support the development of the technical scope of project options to ensure selection and progression of safe, competitive and robust projects

  • Be responsible for Process Safety engineering activity on the projects in support of an Inherently Safer Design (ISD) and application of specific safety features developed during the project phases

  • Develop and implement Process Safety Philosophy for projects in cooperation with the contractors

  • Develop and implement the Design Hazard Management Plan for projects

  • Manage the delivery of Process Safety deliverables; provide verification of key process safety deliverables by engineering contractors in terms of quality and conformance with project requirements; provide oversight of performance of contractor for process safety scope

  • Prescribe appropriate BP approved design methods and procedures, support preparation and participate in key areas such as HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID and environmental reviews where necessary; assist project teams in application

  • Consult with project team, Technical Authorities and functional specialists as appropriate on key issues of risk, engineering integrity, project specifications and significant issues of potential exceptions/non-compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to process systems and process safety; ensure deviations from BP standards, project specifications and processes are identified, justified and deviations processed in accordance with appropriate procedures

  • Engage and manage process safety functional support and third-party consultants as necessary to support assurance and design

  • Support process safety capability and competence through the active mentoring, coaching and training of other process safety engineers.

What you will need to be successful

Must have educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Let me tell you about the role

Ensures successful planning, development and delivery of bp’s internal engineering documents by coordinating with the Engineering teams and maintaining oversight of progress through digital workflows whilst aligning with the governance and publication processes.

Global engineering documents are created and updated by the engineering discipline teams. Delivery leads are a key part of this process by enabling quality, consistency and continuous improvement across bp’s global engineering operations and projects teams.

The Standards and Hardware team support bp’s global businesses by ensuring engineering requirements are clearly captured and transferred through the organisation by applying best industry practices and learning from experience.

What you will deliver

  • Lead the development, publication and retirement of bp engineering standards by using digital tools and workflows to plan, resource and collaborate with the engineering teams.

  • Monitor document progress and provide visibility through digital tools and dashboards.

  • Support delivery of high-quality documentation by performing quality checks on all engineering documents prior to publication.

  • Provide knowledge and experience of implementing industry best practice for writing clear, fit-for-purpose engineering requirements.

  • Work closely with technical content owners, editors, SMEs and functional leads to improve quality, streamline workflows and enhance processes.  

What you will need to be successful

Must have educational qualifications:

  • Minimum of Degree or equivalent qualification in Science/Engineering.

Minimum years of relevant experience:

  • 10 years

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):

  • Fluent in English

  • Experienced in working with engineering standards and technical documentation

  • Proven track record to integrate delivery across multidisciplinary teams and across internal organisational boundaries.

  • Familiarity with technical writing principles.

  • Proficiency in digital tools and document workflows.

  • Track record of successful performance management and delivery of engineering activities, or similar.

Good to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job):

  • Post-graduate qualifications in technical writing, communications or systems engineering.

  • Experience with digital requirement management tools and collaboration platforms.

  • Understanding of industry writing standards and structured requirements techniques.

  • Exposure to content rationalisation, document planning or publication governance.

  • Basic data literacy.
