Job Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for analyzing architectural and structural engineering drawings to create highly detailed shop and erection drawings for various architectural metal components and structures . This role requires a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, structural engineering principles, and proficiency in Rhino/SolidWorks/Tekla/AutoCad/Staad Pro software . The Design Engineer ensures accuracy, compliance, and constructability of all detailed elements, facilitating efficient and error-free fabrication and installation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :


•    Interpretation and Analysis:

o    Thoroughly review and interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings, specifications, and design intent for metal components such as facades, canopies, railings, stairs, decorative elements, furniture and structural steel.

o    Identify potential design conflicts, discrepancies, or missing information and proactively raise Requests for Information (RFls) to architects, engineers, and project managers.


  • Detailed Drawing Creation (Shop & Erection drawings) :


o    Create accurate and comprehensive 20 and 30 models and drawings of individual metal components and assemblies using industry-standard detailing software.

o    Generate shop drawings that include all necessary dimensions , material specifications, welding details, bolt holes, and fabrication instructions for each piece.

o    Develop erection drawings that illustrate the precise location, orientation, and connection methods for assembling fabricated components on-site, including sequencing and field work instructions.

o    Incorporate details for connections, joints, and interfaces with other building materials (e.g . , glass, concrete, masonry) to ensure seamless integration .


  • Material Take-off and Bill of Materials (BoM) :


o    Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for all required raw materials, hardware, and fasteners.


o    Generate material take-offs to facilitate procurement and cost estimation.

  • Compliance and Standards :


o    Ensure all detailing work adheres to relevant industry standards and project-specific requirements.

o    Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design specifications.


  • Collaboration and Coordination :


o    Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, project managers, fabricators, and erectors throughout the project lifecycle.

o    Participate in design review meetings and provide technical input to optimize the design for fabrication and constructability.
