About the Role:
We seek a seasoned Team Lead Support Engineer with deep expertise in Cisco’s enterprise network technologies and Fortinet’s FortiGate firewalls. The ideal candidate will have a strong network security and infrastructure background and hands-on experience troubleshooting and deploying complex network environments. You will join our dynamic IT services team, which provides high-level technical support for customers in the US and Europe and drives improvements across our managed service centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Complex Issues: Provide L2/L3 support for Cisco switches and FortiGate firewall incidents. Diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues affecting client operations.
- Deployment and Configuration: Plan, execute, and manage the deployment of network devices and security solutions, including configuration, testing, and integration into existing networks.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Optimize configurations for maximum efficiency and security.
- Incident Management: Take ownership of critical incidents, coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, and maintain thorough documentation of all processes and solutions.
- Client Interaction: Work directly with clients to understand their technical issues, provide regular updates, and ensure their practical solutions meet their needs.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, lead training sessions, and create knowledge articles on network management and security best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and recommend new technology and approaches to enhance operational excellence and security posture.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience in networking and security, specifically with Cisco switches and FortiGate firewalls.
- Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher, Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) certification preferred.
Skills:
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Exceptional ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues using industry-standard and specialized tools. Proficient in packet analysis with Wireshark, network performance monitoring with SolarWinds, and other relevant diagnostic utilities. You have demonstrated experience correlating data from multiple sources to identify root causes and implement effective solutions quickly.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (e.G., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, QoS).
- Expertise in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco enterprise network technologies (Routing, Switching, ISE, Wireless) and FortiGate firewalls.
- SD-WAN Expertise: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Fortinet's Secure SD-WAN solution, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of SD-WAN deployments. Familiarity with integrating SD-WAN into existing network infrastructures and leveraging it for improved application performance and security.
- Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in network automation tools and scripting languages (e.G., Python, Ansible) for configuration management, task automation, and network optimization. Experience in developing and maintaining scripts to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
