Key Responsibilities

1.Design Development

oCreate innovative and trend-setting designs for seasonal collections.

oDevelop mood boards, sketches, and design concepts aligned with brand aesthetics.

oSelect fabrics, embellishments, and trims for production.

2.Technical Design

oPrepare detailed technical sketches and CAD designs.

oWork closely with pattern makers and garment technicians to ensure accurate production.

oOversee fittings and make necessary adjustments to designs.

3.Trend Analysis

oResearch global fashion trends, colors, and fabrics to inspire new collections.

oStay updated on competitors activities and market demands.

4.Collaboration and Coordination

oCollaborate with marketing, merchandising, and production teams to align designs with business goals.

oPresent design concepts to stakeholders and incorporate feedback effectively.

5.Quality Assurance

oEnsure the quality of finished garments meets brand standards.

oMonitor production timelines and address any issues promptly.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Fashion Design or a related field (preferred but not mandatory if complemented by strong experience).

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in fashion design, ideally within the preferred industries (e.g., apparel, textiles, luxury brands).

Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, CAD, Photoshop, and CLO 3D.

Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing original designs and creativity.

We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented Design Intern to join our on-site team and grow with us as we prepare for launch.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sketching, sampling, and styling for upcoming collections
• Work closely on fabric sourcing, trims, and swatches
• Coordinate with tailors and vendors during the development process
• Help organize fittings, lookbooks, and photo shoot prep
• Create tech packs and documentation for production
• Assist in research and development of collections

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Fashion Design or related field
• Internship or coursework experience in kidswear, womenswear, or tailored garments is a plus
• Basic understanding of fabrics, garment construction, pattern-making and finishing techniques
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator or hand sketching
• Organized, proactive, and excited to learn in a fast-moving startup

• Full-time, 5 days per week

What you'll do:

• Help in sampling by sourcing trimmings, accessories and liaising with the tailoring department, vendors and suppliers to ensure seamless execution of designs from concept to final product
• Assist the senior designer in developing technical specifications and support the creation of new collection launches
• Help in managing production by preparing order sheets, conduct quality checks and deal with customer correspondence if required
• Maintain organized records of design sketches, fabric swatches, and production details for future reference
• Archive completed collections and ensure all design documentation is up-to-date
• Assist in sourcing, production and styling for fashion shoots and support brand communications

Who you are:

• You have pursued a degree in Fashion Design from a design school
• Prior experience of 2-4 years in fashion design, preferably within the luxury or heritage fashion sector, is advantageous
• You have high attention to detail, a no-task-is-too-small attitude and a willingness to take complete ownership of your work
• You have an interest and appreciation for Indian crafts and textiles
• Strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Fashion Design Faculty at JD Institute of Fashion Technology in Kochi. The Fashion Design Faculty will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in various aspects of fashion design, developing curriculum and lesson plans, providing feedback on student work, and staying current with industry trends. The individual in this role will also participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the overall development of the fashion design program.

• Ability to develop and deliver engaging curriculum and lesson plans
