Job Description
- Lead and manage a team of piping engineers and designers for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Allocate resources, monitor team performance, and provide mentoring and technical support.
- Conduct performance reviews, facilitate training, and ensure team development.
- Oversee the preparation of piping design deliverables: PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, MTOs, and support drawings.
- Ensure timely, high-quality deliverables that meet project specifications and client expectations.
- Review and approve piping designs, calculations, stress analysis reports, and vendor documents.
- Guide the design and analysis of piping systems across oil & gas, petrochemical, power, water, and industrial projects.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes (ASME B31.3/B31.1, API, ANSI, ISO) and safety standards.
- Resolve complex technical challenges in layout, material selection, stress management, and constructability.
- Collaborate with other disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, instrumentation) for integrated project execution.
- Participate in model reviews (30%/60%/90%), HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and design audits.
- Manage and resolve interface issues between piping and other disciplines.
- Act as the technical point of contact for clients and vendors regarding piping design.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings, design reviews, and technical clarifications.
- Support procurement and site teams with vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and installation support.
- Implement quality assurance procedures and conduct internal audits of design deliverables.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety codes, material specifications, and environmental regulations.
- Support risk assessments, constructability, and maintainability reviews.
- Contribute to proposal development, scope definition, and estimation for new projects.
- Identify and implement best practices, automation tools, and process improvements.
- Support leadership in achieving departmental KPIs, cost targets, and innovation goals.
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field; M.E./M.Tech is an advantage.
- Experience: 12+ years in piping design and engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a team leadership or managerial role.
- Certifications: PE, CEng, or equivalent preferred. PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software (SP3D, E3D, PDMS), stress analysis tools (CAESAR II), and AutoCAD.
- Deep understanding of piping materials, layout, support design, and welding procedures.
