Plant breeders (also known as geneticists) undertake scientific research into plant and crop-based agriculture with the aim of improving plant breeding techniques and developing new strains of crops. Plant breeders work to develop disease and drought resistant crops while increasing yields to meet consumer needs.
Plant breeding is the science driven creative process of developing new plant varieties that goes by various names including cultivar development, crop improvement, and seed improvement.
The main aim of plant breeding is to produce high-yielding plants. This production of high-yielding plants means the production of plants that are tolerant to extreme climatic conditions like a flood, drought, etc. The plant is produced in a way that it is resistant to harmful bacteria and viruses.
