The Role
Brennan's Cybersecurity Practice plays an essential role in Brennan's overall business strategy. Having experienced significant growth over the past few years, the Practice is taking the next steps to support our next wave of market activity.
To achieve this we are seeking a talented Security Operations Engineer to join our Security Operations team. You will bring expertise and a can-do attitude to develop and deliver technical solutions that strengthen the cyber security posture of our clients.
At its core, the Security Operations Engineer is a technical role that delivers a range of network and cybersecurity services to the market in a project-based delivery methodology.
This role is also expected to provide thought leadership, guidance, and strategic advice to our customers on networking and cybersecurity matters, ensuring our customers deploy best-of-breed technology that appropriately serves their networking and cybersecurity needs.
The Responsibility
- Work collaboratively with customers and internal teams to support secure network solutions.
- Assist in customer workshops and technical sessions, capturing requirements and translating them into practical actions.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, escalating complex matters where appropriate.
Secure Gateway Engineering & Delivery
- Act as an escalation point for Security Analysts on network, SASE, and SSE-related issues.
- Support the design, configuration, and implementation of Secure Gateway technologies under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Perform troubleshooting, upgrades, and change implementations across network security stacks.
- Develop and maintain operational documentation such as runbooks, standard operating procedures, and configuration records.
- Apply automation or scripting where appropriate to improve day-to-day efficiency.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Security Operations Engineer to drive innovation in application security by integrating automated testing tools into CI/CD workflows. This role will focus on building scalable solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and enhancing security processes to support our global security program.
What You'll Do…
- Design / build / implement and maintain scalable automation tools and pipelines for application security, including static (SAST), dynamic (DAST), and software composition analysis (SCA) scanning.
- Collaborate with developers, security engineers, and DevOps teams to integrate security automation seamlessly into CI/CD workflows.
- Identify opportunities for improving security tool coverage, efficiency, and performance.
- Develop custom scripts, plugins, or APIs to extend the capabilities of security testing and remediation automation.
- Monitor and analyze security automation tool results, generate actionable insights, and support incident response and remediation efforts.
- Stay up to date on the latest security automation trends, technologies, and best practices, and advocate for continuous improvement in tooling and processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers on secure coding and secure development lifecycle practices.
Who you are?
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on security automation or application security.
- Proficiency in Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or similar programming languages.
- Strong understanding of application security principles, vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top Ten), and remediation techniques.
- Hands-on experience implementing and configuring security scanning tools such as SAST (e.g., Checkmarx, Fortify), DAST (e.g., Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP), and SCA (e.g., Snyk, WhiteSource).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and how to integrate security automation seamlessly.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-native security automation (e.g., in AWS, Azure, or GCP environments).
- Familiarity with container security (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and related security scanning solutions.
- Knowledge of threat modeling and security risk assessments
