We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Subject Matter Expert (SME ) to develop high-quality instructional content for an Entrepreneurship and Small Business (ESB) certification course. The SME will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to create engaging, accurate, and standards-aligned learning materials.
This role requires a deep understanding of small business principles, instructional best practices, and assessment design aligned to recognized certification standards (such as the Certiport ESB exam ).
An ideal candidate should possess expertise in the following areas: Foundational Concepts of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Ownership, Knowledge and Skills of a Successful Entrepreneur, Business Opportunities, Elements of a Business Plan, Intellectual Property Concepts, Spending and Economic Effects on Price, Sales Channel Strategies, Production Process, Supply Chain, Distribution Channels, Financial Statements, Income Sheets, Selling Price of a Product or Service, Fixed and Variable Costs, Cash Flow, ROI of a Product or Service, Start-up Costs, Operating Budget, Funding Options
Key Responsibilities:
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Write clear, accurate, and engaging lesson content aligned to industry standards and learning objectives.
- Ensure technical accuracy and up-to-date practices in solar energy and workplace safety.
Instructional Design and Development:
- Write and design engaging course materials that translate technical concepts into accessible language for learners.
- Incorporate examples, activities, and checks for understanding.
- Develop lessons in the client’s learning management platform.
Collaboration and Feedback:
- Collaborate with other instructional designers, the client’s educators, and stakeholders to ensure the course is relevant and impactful.
- Revise content based on feedback from the team.
- Work as a productive team member of a part of the global, cross-functional team.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Familiarity with CTE (Career and Technical Education) frameworks and standards.
- Experience in technical writing or curriculum development.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely for educational purposes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Entrepreneurship, Education, Economics).
- ESB Certification or other entrepreneurship credentials (e.g., NFTE, MBA, Small Business certifications).
Preferred:
- Experience working within the K-12 education sector, particularly in curriculum design and development, or content review.
- Prior experience teaching, training, or mentoring in entrepreneurship education or small business consulting.
