JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Accountant position is responsible for the preparation of the in-house corporate tax compliance and tax accounting functions of a multistate and multinational affiliated group of corporations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated federal, multi-state separate and unitary, local and/or international corporate tax returns, related workpapers, extensions and estimated payments
  • Research and respond to notices and information requests from various taxing jurisdictions
  • Assist in preparation of annual corporate income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740 including calculation of book/tax adjustments.
  • Prepare indirect tax filings such as property, sales and use tax.
  • Prepare monthly GL account analyses including reconciling income tax, property and sales tax accounts.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments.
  • Perform research on tax issues.
  • Respond to internal and external customers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager's discretion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent work and education experience

Work Experience

  • Typically 2+ years of progressive work experience in tax required
  • Experience in public accounting and/or a Fortune 1000 size company (publicly traded) with high volume transactions and disciplined close process preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of tax principles in addition to accounting and business procedures.
  • Ability to perform tax research and effectively communicate (written and verbal) income tax accounting and compliance issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Tax Accountant is a pivotal position within the finance and taxation domain of an organization in India. This role involves managing complex tax compliance, planning, and advisory functions, ensuring adherence to local and international regulations, and supporting strategic tax initiatives. The Senior Tax Accountant acts as a technical expert for the company's direct and indirect tax matters and collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and external consultants.

Essential Duties/Responsibilites

  • Tax Compliance: Oversee the preparation, review, and filing of all direct and indirect tax returns (including Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), and Transfer Pricing) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Tax Planning & Advisory: Advise management on tax-efficient structures, evaluate the tax implications of business transactions, and proactively identify opportunities for tax optimization.
  • Assessment & Litigation: Represent the company before tax authorities for assessments, appeals, and audits. Prepare and review submissions, documentation, and coordinate with external consultants and legal advisors for ongoing tax disputes or litigation.
  • Transfer Pricing: Maintain transfer pricing documentation, support planning and benchmarking, and ensure compliance with local and global transfer pricing requirements.
  • Tax Accounting: Ensure accurate tax provisioning and reconciliations in compliance with Ind AS/IFRS requirements. Support statutory audits and internal reporting on tax matters.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on changes in Indian tax laws, regulations, and judicial pronouncements, and communicate relevant updates and potential impacts to management.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and enhance internal controls for tax-related processes. Drive automation initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy in tax compliance.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with finance, legal, and business units to provide tax advice on contracts, new business ventures, and cross-border transactions.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain comprehensive tax records, documentation for audits, and support data requests from internal and external auditors or regulators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience - preferred
  • General education, vocational training and/or on-the-job training

Work Experience

  • Typically 6+ years 4-5 years of progressive experience in taxation, preferably in a large Indian corporate, MNC, or Big 4 consulting firm - required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA CPP - preferred
  • Chartered Accountant (CA) - required

RSM’s International Tax Business practice is a national capability that focuses on serving US and Foreign multi-national business’s US international tax advisory and compliance needs in coordination with foreign tax advisors and applicable laws. This includes advising businesses on the application of US and foreign tax law to a business and how that impacts their choices and decisions to structure their legal entities, transactions, and operations. This practice includes compliance for accurately reporting and administering global tax obligations.


As an International Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the following job duties which are focus around three core concepts - Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management and Client Service/Business Development:

  • Serve as a senior manager, mentor or coach the team, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback - approximately 10 - 20% of your time
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of International Tax services including planning, research, compliance, general mergers and acquisitions activities and transfer pricing
  • Reviewing US international information reporting forms
  • Reviewing quantitative analysis and projects of international tax professionals
  • Working with RSM member firms around the world
  • Assist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clients
  • Manage corporate international client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance
  • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in Public Accounting with a focus in International Tax
  • Enrolled Agent EA or CPA Certification – Mandatory
  • Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications
  • Experience with International Tax compliance including, but not limited to forms 5471, 5472, 8865, 8858 and 1118
  • Strong technical skills in accounting, tax preparation and review within the international taxation environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must have a working knowledge of inbound and outbound structure planning, foreign tax credits, worldwide tax minimization planning, transfer pricing analysis, and ASC 740
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm

About the Role:

Job responsibilities:



  • Assisting clients with life events for partnerships form 1065 (e.G., formations, mergers, initial public offerings), inside and outside basis computations, section 704(c) and section 743(b) computations, and Schedule K-1 processing.
  • Assisting on a variety of tax issues, including REIT Qualification, impact of Tax Reform on passthroughs and other Real Estate clients, business restructuring.
  • Able to do tax research independently.
  • Training the staff.
  • Maintains quality and meet client deadlines.
  • Build working relationships with peers, supervisors, and U.S. colleagues.


Qualifications:


BBA/B.Com/MBA/M.Com/Qualified Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (US), IRS enrolled Agent.



Expert in US Tax – Real Estate



Knowledge of CCh Axcess Tax, Gofileroom, Caseware is an added advantage.



Good Communication skills.



Fluency in English (written and spoken).



Quick learner, enthusiastic, positive demeanor, and a team player.



Ready to work long hours during busy season times.



Able to meet the deadlines & work based on the urgency of the projects.


Relevant Experience:

3- 6years.
