Summary:

A Senior Test Engineer is responsible for performing manual and/Or automated testing to ensure software products in Sycamore meet regulatory and functional requirements. The role involves designing and reviewing test cases, executing test plans, and documenting results.

A Senior Test Engineer is additionally responsible for leading test efforts, implementing automation frameworks ( if knowledgeable in Automation), and ensuring high-quality releases while maintaining regulatory compliance. This role requires experience in both manual and/Or automated testing and working closely with cross-functional teams.

Roles & Responsibilities:

● Understand Sycamore Products end to end and get

trained/onboarded to work across any/all Sycamore’s

products

● Develop and execute manual and/or automated test cases for software applications.

● Perform functional, regression, integration, system, performance, and security testing.

● Validate compliance with industry regulations (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, HIPAA, ISO 13485).

● Collaborate with developers, services, stakeholders, and regulatory teams to understand requirements and ensure compliance.

● Perform defect tracking and reporting using tools like JIRA, HP ALM, or Bugzilla.

● Execute SQL queries to validate database integrity.

● Conduct API testing using tools like Postman or RestAssured.

● Maintain test documentation, including test cases, test scripts, and execution logs.

● Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for complex applications.

● Develop and maintain automation frameworks (Selenium, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright, RobotFramework).

● Perform risk-based testing and ensure validation of GxP systems.

● Lead test strategy and defect management, working closely with development teams.

● Implement CI/CD pipelines for test automation and integration.

● Provide guidance and mentorship to test engineers.

● Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in testing and recommend process improvements.

What will your day look like?

This role is accountable for:

  • Supporting a Windows Server infrastructure fleet comprised of multiple versions of Windows across differing hosting platforms (physical, on prem, cloud)

  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills

    The NAVISYS Engineer is the primary point of contact for all matters related to Navigation and Integrated Systems across the CMA Ships’ fleet. This role works closely with Fleet Superintendents, vendors, classification societies, and internal departments (Procurement, Safety, Technical, Newbuilding) to ensure that all navigation systems are fully operational, compliant, and maintained within budget.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the technical expert for navigation and integrated systems onboard vessels.
    • Monitor, organize, and follow up on surveys, health checks, and scheduled maintenance of these systems.
    • Support vessels and shore teams in assessing risks and planning interventions.
    • Collaborate with Superintendents/Vessel Managers to ensure repairs are carried out on time and within budget by identifying best-fit solutions with approved vendors.
    • Ensure vessel compliance with class, flag, and regulatory requirements concerning navigation systems.
    • Review and challenge vendor proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness and high operational availability.
    • Contribute to experience sharing and “lessons learned” documentation to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
    • Maintain and update databases of onboard navigation and radio systems.
    • Coordinate with expert teams on system lifecycle planning and upgrades.
    • Regularly evaluate vendor and partner performance in collaboration with purchasing teams.
    • Prepare annual budgets for assigned vessels in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
    • Attend vessels in port when necessary to stay updated with onboard systems and services.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical , Electronics , or Telecommunications Engineering .

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting vessel operations or maritime technical systems is preferred.

    Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of radio and navigation systems , including OT networking and cybersecurity controls .
    • Troubleshooting skills and initiative to solve issues independently.

This role works closely with Fleet Superintendents, vendors, classification societies, and internal departments (Procurement, Safety, Technical, Newbuilding) to ensure that all navigation systems are fully operational, compliant, and maintained within budget.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the technical expert for navigation and integrated systems onboard vessels.
    • Monitor, organize, and follow up on surveys, health checks, and scheduled maintenance of these systems.
    • Support vessels and shore teams in assessing risks and planning interventions.
    • Collaborate with Superintendents/Vessel Managers to ensure repairs are carried out on time and within budget by identifying best-fit solutions with approved vendors.
    • Ensure vessel compliance with class, flag, and regulatory requirements concerning navigation systems.
    • Review and challenge vendor proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness and high operational availability.
    • Contribute to experience sharing and “lessons learned” documentation to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
    • Maintain and update databases of onboard navigation and radio systems.
    • Coordinate with expert teams on system lifecycle planning and upgrades.
    • Regularly evaluate vendor and partner performance in collaboration with purchasing teams.
    • Prepare annual budgets for assigned vessels in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
    • Attend vessels in port when necessary to stay updated with onboard systems and services.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting vessel operations or maritime technical systems is preferred.

    Specialized Knowledge & Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of radio and navigation systems, including OT networking and cybersecurity controls.
    • Troubleshooting skills and initiative to solve issues independently.
    • Eagerness to explore and apply new technologies.
    • Proficiency in MS Office tools, including Excel (Power Query), Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
    • Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork abilities.
