Job Title: Production Supervisor – Vision Shopfloor
Department: Production
Location: Thane , Wagle Estate
Reports To: Operations Manager
Job Purpose:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing daily shopfloor activities related to manpower, materials, and production processes in the Vision department. The role involves coordination with multiple departments to ensure timely delivery, quality, and adherence to safety and 5S standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manpower Management
- Allocate work, supervise team members, and send daily work reports via email.
- Plan and coordinate outdoor deputation by collecting team reports and arranging required resources.
- Monitor attendance and leaves of shopfloor staff.
- Inspect fabricated and machined components.
- Maintain 5S and general housekeeping on the shopfloor.
- Coordinate with the System Department for manpower in machine wiring.
- Support setup and trials for Robot/Equipment demos.
2. Material Handling
- Review mechanical drawings with the Design team to understand material requirements and assembly processes.
- Handle drawing-related queries and monitor the SOBOM (Shopfloor Bill of Materials).
- Refer to analytics reports (e.g., Rpt Reservation, Purchase Received) and coordinate with the Purchase team for shortfall materials.
- Receive material from stores through Transfer Orders and ensure proper rack labeling.
- Coordinate with Purchase/Vendors for machined or fabricated items.
- Manage return of excess material to stores.
- Provide feedback on Vision consumables needed on the shopfloor that are not listed in the SOBOM.
- Collaborate with the Design team for in-house manufactured parts and with Stores/Audit for Inventory Adjustment (Inv Adj) to reissue material for the project.
3. Miscellaneous Duties
- Ensure 5S implementation and cleanliness on the shopfloor.
- Update project whiteboards and communicate project status.
- Oversee scrap segregation and proper disposal behind the stores.
- Monitor machine shop and paint booth activities, ensuring proper housekeeping.
- Supervise wrapping of assemblies before dispatch.
- Coordinate with customers for inspections during FAT (Factory Acceptance Test).
- Collaborate with Stores and Logistics for wooden packing and material dispatch.
- Assist in preparing packing lists and identifying materials for dispatch.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure procedures are followed across the shopfloor.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a shopfloor supervisory role (preferably in automation, robotics, or machine manufacturing).
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, material handling, and production processes.
- Knowledge of 5S, safety procedures, and lean practices.
- Good coordination and communication skills.
