The Position

We are currently seeking applications from experienced electricians to fill Underground Shift Electrician positions for our South Australian Operations.

What we are looking for

• Experienced Underground Shift Electricians (hard rock mining)
• South Australian electrical workers licence or ability to obtain one
• Manual drivers’ licence
• Current Senior First Aid/CPR & Low Voltage Rescue certificates
• Sound knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules
• High Voltage switching ticket highly regarded
• Exposure to Sandvik underground mobile equipment highly regarded
• The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment criteria including a full Medical and Drug & Alcohol screening prior to an Offer of Employment being made

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor your duties will include (but are not limited to)

• Carrying out electrical installations on electrical systems up to 1000V AC
• Performing scheduled maintenance, statutory testing and inspections
• Perform breakdowns on mobile and fixed plant equipment
• 1000V mobile equipment servicing, including Battery Electrical Vehicle (BEV) mobile equipment
• Installing and maintaining underground electrical and communication reticulation systems

Electrician

Responsibilities and Duties

· Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.

· Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices

· Troubleshoot electrical problems

· Install, maintain and repair electrical control panels.

· Understand technical diagrams and maintain the same.

· Perform general electrical maintenance.

· Examine circuit breakers and other electrical components.

· Good understanding of heating and air conditioning systems.

· Good understanding of test equipment.

· Service equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.

· To prepare chart of MIS for verification and check on day-to-day basis.

· The candidate should be willing to work in shifts.

Qualifications & Experience: 

· Higher Secondary (12th Pass) (Required)/Diploma/ITI/Certification in Electrical works

· Electrician / Wireman License with validity date.

· 2-5 Years of Working experience.

Installation & Wiring:

• Install, connect, and test electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate installation.
• Run and bend conduit, pull wires, and properly terminate connections.

Maintenance & Repair:

• Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent failures and ensure optimal performance.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems, using testing devices like multimeters and oscilloscopes to find root causes.
• Repair or replace faulty wiring, broken fixtures, or damaged equipment.

Safety & Compliance:

• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, electrical codes (e.g., National Electrical Code - NEC, or local regulations), and company policies.
• Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety and quality standards, passing inspections as required.
• Take necessary precautions to prevent accidents and electrical hazards.

Problem-Solving & Project Support:

• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Identify and recommend solutions for electrical issues or improvements.
• Assist with material procurement, ensuring the right tools and supplies are available for each job.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain detailed records of all work performed, including installation, maintenance, and repair logs.
• Prepare and submit timely reports on job status, materials used, and any challenges encountered.

• Attending Breakdown & Preventive maintenance jobs pertaining to the fuelling systems & related equipment in Petroleum Retail Outlets.
• Able to communicate clearly
• Able to write service reports in clear and grammatically correct English
• Extensive touring
• ill have to work with his own hands.
• Basic awareness of ISO IEC requirements.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• ITI in Electrical or Electronics trade with 1-2 years experience
• Proficient in MS-Office & basic computer applications
• Willing to travel extensively.
• Willing to work with Age 19 to 22 years
• Candidates with hands on experience in Maintenance work preferred
