Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for (02 post for) Molecular Biologist (having direct experience in colony RT-PCR, (02 posts for) experienced Microbiologists (with working experience in BSL3 with class 3 pathogen handling) and (01) post for Biochemist (with experience in IVD reagent formulation, enzyme stabilization, biosensor reagents) in the Lab on a chip & Biosensors Group of Prof. Sandeep K. Jha at Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi. The role involves conducting laboratory experiments, 1) utilizing techniques in molecular biology, PCR, pathogen culture and genome analysis, CRISPR-CAS 12 and 13 based assays, or 2) enzymology such as optimizing new mastermix compositions and primer and probe designing, class 3 pathogen handling, pure culture, glycerol stock maintenance; 3) biosensors reagent optimization, and IVD (e.g. new glucometer assay optimization, enhancemen of shelf life) .
In subsequent stages, the Candidate has to deploy these assays into microfluidic devices (e.g. or paper fluidic kits to develop a clinical diagnostic product.
The candidates should also have handled clinical Validation in atleast one project. These skillsets are required beforehand as learning Curve will be steep.
Candidates demonstrating this full potential will be encouraged to enrol for Ph.D. program at the Centre for a natural Career progression after Successful Completion of the assignments.
Postdocs may also apply and we offer unlimited duration tenure by supporting him/her via different projects. Our lab is amongst best funded in Biomedical Engineering/Diagnostics domain in India and shall remain so on the back of cutting edged research that we keep producing.
However we seek full dedication towards work. Those interested in 10-5 job (some even try to pass on 11-4 culture upon joining, citing family and health issues and get sacked after 3 month's initial probation) need not apply. Your involvement shall get beyond this and your reward shall be Patents, Tech. transfers and eventual multitude of high impact publications to your career resume. Please see examples here:
Qualifications
- Molecular Biologist must have handled qPCR and RT-PCR with melt curve analysis, also Crispr cas 12, 13 assays. Should be able to design primers and probes and molecular beacons themselves.
- Biochemist should have proficiency in Enzymology, Biosensors, Enzyme kinetic assays (e.g. GOD, POD)
- Microbiologist should have handled atleast one class 3 pathogen.
- We work in team of 3-4 involving one from each domain and one Embedded engineer. Hence, those interested in hoarding credit for himself/herself are unsuitable.
- Originlab based data plotting, signal conditioning/refinement
- Pay scale shall be commensurate with experience level and shall be amongst the best in academic setup.
Interview
There will be shortlisting in couple of weeks of closing the advertisement, followed by telephonic and then video interview. Joining from 1st Dec. 2026
