About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Test Engineer to join one of our dynamic engineering teams. You’ll collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer, Engineers, fellow Test Engineers, and the Product Management team to drive the quality of our products.
In this role, you’ll be primarily responsible for ensuring the ongoing quality and reliability of the software powering our flagship ResourceLink application. ResourceLink is a vital tool used by HR and Payroll professionals to manage their daily tasks, making it essential for our users’ efficiency and success.
As part of your onboarding, you will be expected to gain a deep understanding of how ResourceLink supports key HR and Payroll processes. Over the first 6-12 months, you’ll become familiar with the system’s core functionalities to better assess quality and contribute to its continuous improvement.
Essential Skills:
- Cucumber and Gherkin Syntax (minimum 2 years): Proven ability to design and maintain readable, behaviour-driven test cases understandable by both technical and non-technical team members.
- Java (minimum 2 years): Solid understanding of Java for creating and maintaining test automation frameworks and scripts.
- UI Automation Tools: Strong hands-on experience with Selenium or Playwright, particularly in testing dynamic and complex web-based user interfaces.
- Azure DevOps: Proficient in using ADO for managing test cases, tracking bugs, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in Web & UI Testing: Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility standards, and UI consistency testing across browsers and devices.
- Understanding of Modern Front-End Frameworks: Awareness of UI technologies such as Angular, React, or similar, to collaborate effectively with front-end developers.
- Knowledge of Design Implementation: Experience supporting the rollout of user interface redesigns (e.g., design systems like Material or US Design standards) and ensuring functional and visual accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering Leads and Managers during the early development phase to fully understand release requirements, plan resources, and define test strategies aligned with business goals.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve automated test cases and regression suites, ensuring comprehensive test coverage and timely resolution of issues across multiple releases.
- Monitor and review automated test pipelines in Azure DevOps (ADO), identifying failures, addressing gaps in test coverage, and ensuring accurate tracking of bugs and test progress.
- Lead test planning and scheduling activities, including effort estimation, task creation, and tracking progress to meet deadlines using Agile methodologies.
- Ensure availability and readiness of test environments, including required test data, backup/restore processes, and infrastructure needs for upcoming test cycles.
- Provide effective leadership and performance management, including mentoring, conducting regular 1-to-1s and objective setting, and upskilling of QA team members in ResourceLink, automation tools, and QA best practices.
- Champion best practices in quality assurance, reviewing existing testing processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and promoting adherence to industry standards.
- Ensure quality walkthroughs and UAT support, rehearsing user requirement reviews and facilitating successful handovers with the business.
- Escalate blockers and risks proactively, taking ownership of resolution and communicating effectively with the QA Lead and Engineering team.
- Demonstrate resilience and adaptability, responding effectively to change, pressure, and ambiguity in a fast-paced delivery environment.
