Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- Conceptualization & Design: Develop new and innovative design concepts for sheet metal furniture, including chairs, tables, cabinets, shelving units, and other custom products.
- 3D Modeling & Rendering: Create detailed 3D models and high-quality renderings using industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA) to visualize and present design concepts.
- Prototyping & Development: Oversee the prototyping process, working closely with the fabrication team to translate designs into physical models.
- DFM (Design for Manufacturability): Ensure all designs are optimized for sheet metal manufacturing processes such as cutting, bending, welding, and finishing, while maintaining structural integrity and cost-effectiveness.
- Material and Process Selection: Recommend appropriate materials (e.g., different grades of steel, aluminum) and finishes to meet design, durability, and cost requirements.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed 2D drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and technical specifications for production.
- Market Research: Stay updated on the latest trends in furniture design, materials, and manufacturing technologies to ensure our products remain competitive and relevant.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the production, sales, and marketing teams to ensure designs meet market needs and can be produced efficiently.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: A Post-Graduate degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field is mandatory.
- Experience: Proven, hands-on experience (minimum of X years, you can fill in a number) in sheet metal product design, preferably in the furniture or a related industry. A strong portfolio showcasing previous work is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in at least one major CAD software (SolidWorks is highly preferred).
- Sheet Metal Expertise: Deep understanding of sheet metal properties, gauges, and fabrication techniques. Knowledge of welding, bending, and finishing processes is crucial.
- Creative & Analytical: A strong aesthetic sense and a creative problem-solving mindset, combined with an analytical approach to engineering challenges.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present designs and collaborate with team members.
