Position Overview

The Associate Professor will contribute to advancing the academic and research excellence of the School of Technology by leading high-impact teaching, research, and institutional development initiatives in the domain of Computer Science and allied technologies. The candidate will be expected to mentor faculty and students, lead funded research projects, and foster industry and global academic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Academic & Teaching:

• Deliver high-quality lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Computer Science and related disciplines.
• Develop and continuously update curricula aligned with industry trends and international standards.
• Supervise student projects, internships, and dissertations.
• Implement innovative pedagogy, including experiential learning, simulation-based teaching, and interdisciplinary modules.

Research & Publications:

• Conduct independent and collaborative research leading to publications in Scopus/WoS indexed journals.
• Secure funded research grants from national/international agencies and industry partners.
• Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects across schools (Business, Design, Liberal Arts, Architecture, etc.).
• Mentor junior faculty and research scholars towards impactful research output.

Institutional & Community Engagement:

• Participate actively in academic governance, curriculum development committees, and accreditation processes.
• Engage in outreach initiatives, conferences, and workshops representing Woxsen’s research and innovation ecosystem.
• Foster relationships with industry leaders for joint research, consulting, and placement collaborations.

Leadership:

• Guide program-level academic and research development.
• Lead special initiatives under Woxsen’s Centres of Excellence (AI, Sustainability, Smart Manufacturing, etc.).
• Contribute to Woxsen’s interdisciplinary and innovation-driven ecosystem.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field from a reputed institution.
• Experience: Minimum of 8–10 years of academic/research experience with at least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
• Publications: Proven record of high-quality research publications in reputed journals and conferences.
• Preferred Areas of Expertise: Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, or related domains.
• Desirable: Experience in funded research, patents, start-up/entrepreneurship initiatives, or interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Deliver high-quality lectures and tutorials in undergraduate and postgraduate computer science courses.
• Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessment methods.
• Supervise student projects, dissertations, and research activities.
• Conduct original research in a relevant area of computer science and publish findings in reputable journals and conferences.
• Contribute to departmental administrative duties and committee work.
• Mentor students, provide academic advising, and support their career development.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary initiatives.

• Manage and support the IT helpdesk team, ensuring that they have the resources, training, and guidance to perform effectively.

Risk Management & Issue Resolution:

• Identify potential project risks and take appropriate action to mitigate these risks.
• Serve as a point of escalation for complex or critical issues, working with the IT team and vendors to resolve them quickly.

Reporting & Analysis:

• Provide regular status reports to senior leadership on project progress, helpdesk performance, and areas of improvement.

Budget & Resource Management:

• Create and manage project budgets, ensuring that all financial resources are used efficiently and in line with project objectives.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven experience in IT project management, preferably with a focus on helpdesk or IT support services.
• Strong knowledge of helpdesk systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk) and ITIL framework.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
• Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of common IT issues and troubleshooting techniques, along with an understanding of end-user needs and expectations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable plans.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to manage and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with agile or other project management methodologies.

Preferred:

• PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.
• ITIL Certification or relevant training.
• Experience working with remote or distributed helpdesk teams.
• Familiarity with cloud-based helpdesk tools and systems.
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware troubleshooting.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience managing IT support teams or IT projects, particularly in helpdesk environments.
