Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • 8-12 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience in an Agile environment.
  • Been a part of SDLC, deployment, and support of software projects.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. • Significant software engineering skills and computer science experience.
  • Working knowledge of modern programming languages such as Java, Spring Boot, Node JS, React, JavaScript/jQuery, and TypeScript.
  • Working experience in architecting/developing solutions on AWS.
  • Working knowledge of Version Control Management tools like Perforce and Git.

The Team:

The Service Operations Site Reliability Engineering team is a newly formed branch of the Network Operations Center. The team sits within the Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) division which is responsible for delivering high quality and highly available SaaS infrastructure and internal tools. You will be working closely with our internal stakeholders from the R&D and Cloud Infrastructure organizations using modern toolsets to deliver resilient & scalable business solutions. Consistent with SRE practices, a key goal for this team is to measure & reduce toil, not only for ourselves but for the broader NOC & Service Operations organizations.
   
Job Responsibilities

·    Provisioning and ongoing management of physical & virtual Linux machines using tools like Puppet, Ansible, and Terraform, to name a few

·    Engage closely with sister teams to assume ownership of various system lifecycle tasks

·    Automate away toil and/or create empowerment processes for transitioning high urgency work to the NOC’s rapid response team

·    Build automated monitoring & observability using tools such as Prometheus/AlertManager, iCinga, Grafana, etc.

·    Participate in all Agile/scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, etc.

·    Participate in the team’s on-call rotation (expected to begin late 2024, early 2025)

·    Work closely with internal teams to integrate new monitoring & alerts into the NOC using Perl scripting to author custom parsing & mapping rules

·    Develop metrics and observability dashboards which can be used to measure and track various success measures for the team & the business

Typical Qualifications  

·    5+ years of professional experience delivering SaaS solutions, preferably in a hybrid cloud environment

·    Proven experience using query languages to deliver observability solutions

  • Proven ability to analyze business needs and translate them into user-centered design solutions.
  • Proficient in user research techniques, usability testing, and data analysis.
  • Experience with wireframing, prototyping, and process diagramming tools (e.g. Figma, Axure, mural, Lucidchart)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies is a plus.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Support the Head of Technology Risk Oversight with respect to:
  • The development and maintenance of the Technology Risk Framework 
  • Ensuring that the TIRG, RMG, EMC and Board have complete transparency and understanding of the firm's technology risk and control environment.
  • Ensuring that the various governance forums and committees (including the TIRG, RMG, EMC) and Board have complete transparency and understanding of the firm's technology risk and control environment.
  • Timely setting and regular monitoring of actions required to reduce the technology risk profile or improve the control environment where these are deemed necessary.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Senior Management and external Stakeholders including the wider BNY Group Technology Risk functions.
  • Facilitating root cause analysis and lessons learned workshop for technology related incidents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and interpret data regarding security controls, assessing their effectiveness in mitigating identified risks
  • Assist with the oversight of the 1st Line Technology Risk Function
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness and compliance across the organization
  • Pro-active Ownership of:
  • The day-to-day management and administration of the Risk Management Platform (for Technology Risk).
  • Implementation of the technology specific control testing program. 

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • 4+ years in technology risk management or a related field within the financial industry 
  • Proven expertise in conducting risk assessments, capable of identifying, analyzing, and escalating potential risks with complex technology, when measured against Internal policies, considering any offsetting measures & controls
  • Some understanding of relevant regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, DORA, PCI-DSS, SOX) and their impact on technology environments both now and expected
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent Microsoft office suite skills e.g. Excel / Powerpoint

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: 

  • Bachelors / Masters in Marketing or Finance
  • 4 to 5 years of relevant experience within digital marketing for an investment manager, investment bank or any other financial institution.
  • Must have experience of using website content management systems and email marketing tools. Must be well organized and able to manage workload in order to meet specified deadlines. Must be able to follow processes and have strong attention to detail. Experience of working in financial services and complying with regulatory deadlines would be beneficial.
  • Must have the ability to think for themselves and use their initiative to suggest improvements or efficiencies in the process. Where gaps are identified they should be proactive in identifying the appropriate individuals to provide them with the information to fix their issue and should be politely persistent in ensuring it gets resolved.
  • This role is important for ensuring that our website is kept up to date and presents a good impression to existing and prospective clients. It is also important for ensuring that clients regularly receive factsheets and other reporting information that they need on a timely basis. Failure to complete the designated tasks would reflect badly on Insight and it’s reputation.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication. They will need to communicate with a number of internal teams, so it is important the individual is personable as well as being assertive to ensure they get timely responses where required.

  • Implementation of system upgrades (hardware and software), system documentation, daily administration, and problem resolution. 
  • Ongoing network technology skills development with appropriate knowledge transfer to other members of the infrastructure teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.

  • Strong Cisco / Extreme Networks switch and router knowledge 
  • Networking and Routing protocols 
  • Firewall knowledge preferably Checkpoint 
  • Azure cloud knowledge for network appliances, NSG’s and cloud gateways 
  • Strong Zscaler knowledge 
  • Experience in SD-WAN, DDOS, Load balancing
  • F5 Knowledge for load balancing and WAF 
  • Experience in dealing with providers such as Bloomberg for Market data feeds 
  • Practical experience in a similar role 
  • The following skills are highly desirable 
  • Experience of network automation techniques 
  • Experience with problem management within an organization 
  • Experience with Tufin or equivalent tooling
