Every drop of oil, water & condensate & cubic foot of gas produced by bp passes through a pipeline looked after by the team. The primary responsibility of this role is to be a pipeline engineer in the TSI hub, based in Pune, India. There are multiple roles open. The successful candidates will carry out various roles, including:
  • Regional Pipeline Field Support: Supporting execution & assessment of subsea inspection campaigns & defining repair requirements.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Integrity Management support: Working closely with engineers in the regions to manage subsea & pipeline integrity management data in our NEXUS-IC database, the Anomaly Assessment & Tracking system & Inspection Data loading.
  • Subsea & Pipeline Geospatial, Documentation & Performance Management support: Working closely with engineers in the regions to manage our inspection & engineering data in the GIS (PODS), improve accessibility to our documents in the Electronic Document Management System & build & maintain Power BI dashboards.
General responsibilities for Pipeline Engineers:
  • Elements of the role include risk assessment, integrity management plan development, maintenance, inspection & repair execution engineering support, anomaly assessment, & interaction with major projects
  • Provides timely updates to Inspection Data Specialist on inspections and repairs scopes and ensures accuracy of the data including QA/QC, timely application of engineered solutions and documentations.
  • Leading & participating pipeline integrity & improvement activities around the world
  • Provide pipeline engineering expertise as the Equipment Owner for the pipeline related equipment & System Owner for any transportation systems as assigned by region.
  • Region / global pipeline related Domain Expert as assigned by the Pipeline Field Lead support all regions in areas of expertise when requested.
  • Integrate with associated fields to ensure adequate equipment care, including maintenance & engineering, corrosion, flow assurance, production chemistry, pressure systems integrity, process safety & structural & civil engineering.
  • Ensure pragmatic solutions are identified to manage risk, production efficiency, defect elimination & standardization, to deliver safe, reliable & compliant operations.
  • Own & maintain the documents & data for the assigned equipment.
  • Own & maintain the risk assessment for the assigned equipment ensuring that the identified threats reflect current operations & use this to define, implement & support delivery of Equipment Strategies by the relevant Execution Owner. Assess anomalies, initiate further actions & follow up to closure.
  • Prepare, review & endorse pipeline-related metrics (e.g. barrier health, pipeline integrity dashboard & LOPC data) & take action where appropriate.
  • Pipeline support to incident investigations & the learning process.
  • Technical management of subsea contractors (e.g. subsea engineering contractors).
What you will need to be successful  Must have education / certifications: MSc or MEng is preferred, BEng or BSc or equivalent experience is minimum, or international equivalent in a relevant engineering Team. Must have experience / skills (to be hired with):
  • Technical expertise in several areas related to the team applied to Operations. These include risk assessment, risk-based inspection, pipeline engineering assessments, fitness for service, failure investigation, pipeline inspection & monitoring, corrosion, pipeline repair & pipeline geospatial data management.
  • Proven track record in practical application of engineering standards & practices for pipeline engineering.

The Senior Process Safety Engineer will join the Projects India organisation in the engineering and quality team to provide engineering expertise, oversight, judgment and support to Production & Operations (P&O) Projects.

The role is based at the Pune office but will require significant contractor facing work at major engineering contractor office locations in both India and possibly ex-India.

What you will deliver

  • Support the development of the technical scope of project options to ensure selection and progression of safe, competitive and robust projects

  • Be responsible for Process Safety engineering activity on the projects in support of an Inherently Safer Design (ISD) and application of specific safety features developed during the project phases

  • Provide technical guidance and advice to the Project team; support technical and engineering scope development and decision making with process safety impacts

  • Develop and implement Process Safety Philosophy for projects in cooperation with the contractors

  • Develop and implement the Design Hazard Management Plan for projects

  • Manage the delivery of Process Safety deliverables; provide verification of key process safety deliverables by engineering contractors in terms of quality and conformance with project requirements; provide oversight of performance of contractor for process safety scope

  • Prescribe appropriate BP approved design methods and procedures, support preparation and participate in key areas such as HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID and environmental reviews where necessary; assist project teams in application

  • Consult with project team, Technical Authorities and functional specialists as appropriate on key issues of risk, engineering integrity, project specifications and significant issues of potential exceptions/non-compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to process systems and process safety; ensure deviations from BP standards, project specifications and processes are identified, justified and deviations processed in accordance with appropriate procedures

  • Engage and manage process safety functional support and third-party consultants as necessary to support assurance and design

  • Support process safety capability and competence through the active mentoring, coaching and training of other process safety engineers.

What you will need to be successful

Must have educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Preferred education/certifications:

  • Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer

Minimum years of relevant experience:

  • Minimum 12+ years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum 5 years’ experience of leading process safety and HSSE in design engineering work in Major Capital projects.

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):

  • Experience in design safety in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design stages of major projects

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Experience working in a discipline leadership role, managing engineering contractor performance

  • Experience in the technical safety system design such as firewater, lifesaving equipment selection, and fire and gas detector layout and mapping

  • Experience with process safety modelling, application and result interpretation of results for use by design teams (e.g. fire hazard assessment, dispersion modelling, quantitative risk assessment)

  • Knowledge of stage gated project processes

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and codes and standards

  • Good understanding of incorporating inherently safer design principles into design

  • Track record of consistent delivery and able to demonstrate effective project technical management and leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence with all levels of the project team, engineering contractors and project leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to foster effective teamwork across multiple locations, teams, and other engineering disciplines

What you will deliver

Work closely with the regions across the globe, utilising broad classical Reservoir engineering methods to properly analyse and integrate wells and Reservoir data into the team’s current understanding.

  • Conduct classical Reservoir engineering analyses, integrating rate and pressure transient analysis, material balance, decline curve and volumetric analyses into Reservoir evaluation and reserves estimation.
  • Provide sound Reservoir Engineering technical analysis, judgement, and guidance to support identification, evaluation, and progression of value-generating resources.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in delivery of projects and progression of resources.
  • Apply Reservoir engineering concepts to understand and optimize the production and recovery, Including Rock and fluid properties, relative permeability, and depletion mechanisms.
  • Promote hydrocarbon resources progression by assessing surveillance and analogue data, development activities and materiality, and working across multi-disciplines to provide input and justification for reserves/resources estimation and reporting, following company’s guidelines.
  • Ensure subsurface products align to bp’s technical expectations for reserves estimation.
  • Collaborate with engineers in global teams to analyze field performance and advise on improving recovery.

What you will need to be successful  


Must have educational qualifications:

Bsc / Msc degree in Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering or related applied science engineering
 

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):

  • Have a strong understanding of Reservoir analysis fundamentals such as pressure transient analysis, decline curve analysis and material balance.
  • Good industry track record as Reservoir Engineer. Relevant classical Reservoir engineering experience in Reservoir Management, Reservoir Performance, and Analytical Reservoir Engineering workflows.
  • Experience with classical RE toolkits (e.g. PETEX IPM, Kappa (Saphir)).
  • Good working experience with well test analysis, PTA and RTA.
  • Skillful communication and influencing skills, with track record of sharing learnings.
  • Able to manage multiple activities and quickly respond to changing business priorities.
  • Able to cope with short-term deadlines and flexible prioritization acting as a squad member as required.

Minimum years of relevant experience:
5 -12 years’ experience as Reservoir Engineer, with experience in classical Reservoir engineering and reserves estimation.

  • Basic knowledge of CCUS subsurface workflow.
  • Waterflood management and/or gas Reservoir management experience.
  • Experience of using simulation models to support decisions.

Shift support : flexible working may be required depending on project location

You will work with

Your line manager will be the TSI Reservoir Engineering Discipline Leader.  

You will work in Pune, India, but may be remotely deployed into an international, integrated subsurface delivery ‘squad’ where day-to-day activities/deliverables will be prioritised by the squad leader. These GSS squads typically consist of 5-10 multi-disciplinary technical members in several locations and are deployed based on global subsurface business prioritisation.

You will also work in close collaboration with subsurface teams in the country your squad supports, as    well as with bp’s global subsurface technical specialists and subject matter experts.

As a Reservoir engineer in the Reservoir Management Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work across BP global portfolio on projects as diverse as early field development offshore West Africa, large-scale waterflood developments in the Caspian Sea and Middle East. 

You will be responsible for supporting reservoir engineers within Global Subsurface Solutions unit build and use simulation models which, in turn, support region decisions on major projects, infill wells, reservoir management and production forecasting.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the Global modelling team, utilising broad reservoir experience and classical reservoir engineering methods to analyse and integrate wells and reservoir data into the team’s current understanding. 

  • Support Simulation Engineers in building, updating and coaching others to use reservoir simulation models and ensembles in collaboration with RPP&RM geoscientists, geomodellers, petrophysicists and petroleum engineers 

  • Understand and keep the business context and geological realities in mind throughout the modelling process 

  • Understand region needs and translate those needs into building the most appropriate tools 

  • Support model framing and fitness sessions as well as assist in technical validation of simulation models 

  • Support review and assessment of readiness of Integrated Subsurface Descriptions and Reservoir Performance Prediction (ISD/RPP) inputs at the start of a modelling effort 

Must have educational qualifications:

  • Bsc / Msc degree in Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering or related applied science engineering

Must have experiences/skills:

  • Skillful reservoir simulation competency level, including deep knowledge of the inputs, outputs, benefits and limitations of reservoir simulation software

  • Reservoir simulation, uncertainty quantification and analysis, well and area performance management, depletion planning and reservoir management

  • Appreciation of how a decision can be informed by simulation modelling.

  • Experience with RE toolkits (e.g. PETEX IPM, Kappa Ecrin (Saphir) Nexus, Eclipse, other simulation software)

You will work in Pune, India, but may be remotely deployed into an international, integrated subsurface delivery ‘squad’ where day-to-day activities/deliverables will be prioritised by the squad leader. These GSS squads typically consist of 5-10 multi-disciplinary technical members in several locations and are deployed based on global subsurface business prioritisation.

  • Provide sound Reservoir Engineering technical analysis, judgement, and guidance to support identification, evaluation, and progression of value-generating resources

  • Provide technical support and guidance in delivery of projects and progression of resources

  • Apply reservoir engineering concepts to understand and optimize the production and recovery, Including Rock and fluid properties, relative permeability, and depletion mechanisms

  • Promote hydrocarbon resources progression by assessing surveillance and analogue data, development activities and materiality, and working across multi-disciplines to provide input and justification for reserves/resources estimation and reporting, following company’s guidelines

  • Provide technical guidance and advice to the Project team; support technical and engineering scope development and decision making with process safety impacts

  • Develop and implement Process Safety Philosophy for projects in cooperation with the contractors

  • Develop and implement the Design Hazard Management Plan for projects

  • Provide verification of key process safety deliverables by engineering contractors in terms of quality and conformance with project requirements; provide oversight of performance of contractor for process safety scope

  • Using prescribed BP approved design methods and procedures, support preparation of and participate in key areas such as HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID and environmental reviews where necessary

  • Consult with project team, Technical Authorities and functional specialists as appropriate on key issues of risk, engineering integrity, project specifications and significant issues of potential exceptions/non-compliance

  • Maintain knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations relevant to process systems and process safety; ensure deviations from BP standards, project specifications and processes are identified, justified and deviations processed in accordance with appropriate procedures

  • Work with process safety functional support and third-party consultants as necessary to support assurance and design.What you will need to be successful

Must have educational qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

Preferred education/certifications:
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer or equivalent

Minimum years of relevant experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum 2 years' experience of relevant process safety engineering work in Large scale Capital projects.

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):
  • Experience in design safety in Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Design stages of major projects

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Experience in the technical safety system design such as firewater, lifesaving equipment selection, and fire and gas detector layout and mapping

  • Experience working with third party design contractors

  • Knowledge of stage gated project processes

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and codes and standards

  • Good understanding of incorporating inherently safer design principles into design

  • Track record of consistent delivery and able to demonstrate effective communication and influence with all levels of the project team, engineering contractors and project leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to foster effective teamwork across multiple locations, teams, and other engineering disciplines

Good to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job):

  • Experience in working in concept selection stage of projects

  • Experience working under a range of Contracting models (reimbursable, lump sum, etc.)

  • Experience managing engineering contractor performance

  • General knowledge of gas processing, refining or petrochemical processes and typical flow schemes

  • Experience with process safety modelling, application and result interpretation of results for use by design teams (e.g. fire hazard assessment, dispersion modelling, quantitative risk assessment)

  • A self-starter and pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered.

  • Be self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

Let me tell you about the role

The Business Performance Coordinator is a valued member of the FP&A team, supporting the delivery of business planning and performance management products to the oil and gas business. This will involve collaborating with the local technical and finance teams based in onsite locations on an ongoing basis to develop financial products that enable effective decision making in the operation of the business. The integral part of this role is to gain a deep understanding of the business context for the area to be able to provide insightful management information.

As a member of the FP&A team, the role will contribute towards wider team goals including the automation and standardization of financial products, with the goal of improving the efficiency of bp’s financial analysis and reporting.

The incumbent would be potentially required to work under alternative shift arrangements to ensure appropriate overlap hours with Eastern Standard time.

What you will deliver

  • Performance Management : Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial and management information to empower strategic business decisions. Conduct in-depth analysis of monthly and quarterly actuals, including trend analysis and variance explanations, to provide actionable insights. Identify and highlight areas where performance exceeds or falls short of key targets, driving continuous improvement.

  • Business Planning : Chip in to the development of the long-term strategic plan for the region and support the quarterly planning process, including capital and cash cost forecasts, production forecasts, and key financial outcomes. Collaborate with stakeholders to refine activity sets, input assumptions, and generate accurate forecasts.

  • Insights: Use SAP-based systems to submit plan data and leverage PowerBI for detailed analysis and reporting. Create engaging presentation materials, provide insightful commentary, and address follow-up questions from leadership and central finance teams.

  • Continuous Improvement : Promote the use of new and/or standardized systems and continuously improve supply related MI systems and processes to increase automation and move towards increasing the self-service model.

  • Cross-team integration : as a senior leader within FP&A, work with peers in remote offices across geographies in bp to earn trust, share context and establish ways of working. Work to develop a positive working culture that motivates staff to succeed and develop careers at bp.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Must have educational qualifications :

  • Business/Finance or Technical Field Degree level or equivalent.

Preferred Education/certifications :

  • Master’s Degree in a finance discipline e.g. MBA, CA, ICWA.

Minimum years of relevant experience :

  • 3-5 years of relevant post degree experience in financial reporting, planning and control.

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with) :

  • Proven experience in developing and communicating financial management information to business partners.

  • Proficiency in Excel, SAP, economic models, and visualization tools such as Power BI. Python coding experience is a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with handling large quantities of sophisticated data

  • Basic comprehension of the energy industry, including commercial drivers, sources of value, and competition, with a preference for direct oil and gas experience.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, particularly with digital systems and tools.

  • Highly analytical, capable of developing trends and insights from data.

  • You will be working with a team of finance professionals as part of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) organization. The FP&A organization is an exciting new team being established by bp to create a centre of expertise in the areas of business planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis and economic evaluation.

  • This role will regularly interact and be the main contact point for Business/Functions senior leadership.

In addition to the FP&A team, you will also be partnering with the local finance team and various technical and leadership teams in onsite locations.
