Role Overview
Role Name: Factory Manager
Reporting to : Chief Manufacturing Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end factory operations, ensuring production targets are met on time and within budget.
- Plan, organize, and control production schedules to meet demand forecasts and inventory requirements.
- Lead and develop production teams to ensure high levels of efficiency, morale, and performance.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations (EHS).
- Maintain high-quality manufacturing standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, etc.).
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, QA/QC, maintenance, and HR teams for smooth plant functioning.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Optimize resource utilization including manpower, materials, and machines.
- Prepare reports on production performance, cost analysis, and key KPIs for senior management.
- Drive automation and digitization efforts for enhanced productivity and transparency.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 8–15 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in FMCG.
- Proven experience in managing large teams and factory operations.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing KPIs, cost control, and lean manufacturing.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, FSSAI, and other statutory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions.

The Satara factory, one of our key manufacturing hubs, supports global deliveries of GPHE and WHE (Welded Heat Exchangers) and plays a pivotal role in driving our sustainable growth journey.
As Factory & Site Manager , will lead the end-to-end operations of the Satara manufacturing site. This role provides the opportunity to lead a large-scale operation with a high impact on global supply chains. This includes full ownership of supply chain, safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance, along with continuous improvement initiatives. Leader will play a critical role in strengthening the factory's capabilities and supporting Alfa Laval India’s ambitious growth goals.
The Leader will be part of the India Operations Leadership Team and the Global Operations Teams product groups, working closely with local and international stakeholders.

Directly managing 9 key leaders:
Unit Managers for Engineering & Maintenance, WHE, Manufacturing, and ALPS
Managers for Purchase, Warehouse, Inventory, Projects, and Quality
Indirectly responsible for 300+ team members at the Satara facility
Key Responsibilities:
Create a culture of zero harm by driving people safety, process discipline, and product quality—while delivering on-time, cost-effective manufacturing outcomes that meet global standards.
Provide strategic leadership to a 300+ member factory workforce, including 9 direct reports, by fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous development.
Have a full end-to-end supply chain responsibility and accountability for the factory’s performance and development
Embed a performance-focused culture by deploying Lean, ALPS, TPM, and Six Sigma principles to achieve year-on-year improvements in productivity, quality, and resource efficiency.
Translate Alfa Laval’s global values, operational policies, and compliance frameworks into local execution while maintaining cultural alignment and integrity.
Own key performance metrics—such as productivity, inventory turns, OTD (on-time delivery), and cost optimization—to drive business results and stakeholder confidence.
Oversee the full supply chain lifecycle, including strategic procurement, inventory management, and warehouse optimization to enable agility, quality, and cost leadership.
Build and sustain a reliable, compliant, and ethical local supplier base that supports long-term business scalability and aligns with Alfa Laval’s sourcing vision.
Act as an enabler for New Product Introductions (NPI) by collaborating closely with R&D, sales, and global support functions—ensuring operational readiness and seamless integration.
Maintain strong and proactive industrial relations by engaging constructively with employee unions, promoting transparent communication, and supporting a healthy workplace culture.
To contribute effectively to our business, you will require these essential skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical or Production, providing a strong technical and operational foundation for strategic decision-making.
Over a decade of progressive leadership experience in complex manufacturing environments, ideally within multinational or matrix organizations, with a demonstrated ability to manage scale, complexity, and global interfaces.
Deep expertise in driving Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Six Sigma initiatives to enhance operational agility, performance, process discipline, and long-term cost competitiveness.
Proven capability in managing both standardized high-volume production and customized project-based manufacturing, ensuring delivery excellence across diverse product portfolios.
